The invention consists in the novel con# struction and combinations of. the several parts, as will be hereinafter fully' set forth and pointed out in the claims.

Each lever arm has secured to its lower end a scraper 27, the scraper being of angular construction as is best shown in Fig. 3; and the scraper carried by each lever arm isadapted to engage with one connected set of drums A, as shown in Fig. 1. The lever arms 25 are guided in their movement, being made to pass through eyes formed upon guide rods 29, also attached to the boxes and extending rearwardly therefrom in a horizontal position, as shown in Fig. 2. Thus it will be observed that when the driver presses against the treadles of the levers 22 and 23, the scrapers will be carried against the drums, and will remove from the drums any soil that may cling thereto; while when the treadles are in the upright position shown in Fig. 2, which is their normal position, the Scrapers are carried out of connection with the drums and occupy the position illustrated in Fig. 3. It will be further observed that as the frame B is as it were, fulcrumed upon the connecting medium of the sets of drums, the roller may be readily drawn ahead over exceedingly rough or undulating ground Without injury or inconvenience to the team drawing it, since the drums will accommadate themselves to the inequalities of the ground and the frame will accommodate itself in the same manner. The pole 30 is located at its rear end in a socket 31, formed upon the central portion of the front bar 17 of the frame, and braces 32, arranged in the shape of a truss are attached at their rear ends to the front bar 17 near the ends thereof; and at the central portion of the truss brace a socket 33, is formed, through which the pole is also passed. A ham mer strap 34, is connected with the pole between the sockets 31 and 33, through the medium of a removable pin 35; and the hammer strap is connected with the brace and with the pole by passing a pin 36, also removable, through the socket 33 and the pole, as shown best in Fig. 1. Thus it will be observed that the pole may be readily removed from connection with the roller when the latter is not required for use. The drums may, as shown in dot-ted lines in the drawings, be provided with spurs secured in either a positive or a removable manner to their outer faces, and for example, the spurs may be attached to segmental plates and the plates be secured to the drums. When the spurs are employed the levers, the arms, the guides and the cleaners, are d1s pensed with. The spurs make the drums effective clod Crushers. 0

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentl. ln a land roller, the combination, with a series of drums arranged end to end and at short intervals apart, shafts connecting each two drums, and a sleeve mounted loosely on each shaft and extending through both hubs of a drum, of a frame of substantially rectangular construction, the frame being pivotally connected with the sleeves, a truss brace connected with the forward end of the frame, and sockets formed upon the forward end of the frame and the truss brace, the said sockets being adapted to receivea pole, as and for the purpose set forth. l 2. In a land roller, the combination, with a series of drums arranged end to end and at short intervals apart, shafts connecting each pair of drums, and a sleeve held to turn upon each of the said shafts, the sleeves having boxes secured to their central portions, of a frame of essentially rectangular construction, the side bars of which are clampedin the boxes, a platform supported by the frame, foot levers journaled upon the platform, lever arms located below the platform, said arms being bifurcated at their lower ends and fulcrumed upon the rear part of the frame, a link connection between the foot levers and the lever arms, guides supported by the frame, through which the links and the lever arms have movement, and Scrapers carried by the lower ends of the lever arms, each scraper being adapted for engagement with the rear portion of a pair of drums, as and for the purpose set forth.,
