EGG CUP No'. 510,085. Patented Dec. 5,1893.
E NATIONAL LnHoanAFMma COMPANY WASHINGTON. a. c.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ERNST WILHELM ORTH, OF HAMBURG, GERMANY. I
EGG-CUP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 510,085, dated December 5, 1893.
Application filed April 29, 1893. Serial No. 4=7Z| N m m To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ERNsT WILHELM ORIH, eutler, a citizen and a resident of Hamburg, (Zippelhaus 5,) Germany, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Egg- Oups, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in egg-cups, by which the removal of the eggshell is facilitated, and by which the cup is made adaptable to the size of the egg.
The egg-cups at present in use, and made of porcelain or metal, do not adapt themselves to the shape of the egg, and the removal of the egg-shell is often somewhat troublesome.
The accompanying drawing represents an eg -cup, the upper part or vase of which is made of flexible strips at. These strips can be drawn together by pushing upward aring b, and thus be made to hold the egg 0 firmly.
The egg-shell is afterward ejected by the upward pressure of a plate (I which slides vertically with its rod e in the stem f of the eggcup under the influence of a spring h.
A button g is provided to release the plate and'rod and allow of the spring to force it upward.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
An egg-cup, comprising a vase formed of separate, flexible strips, a ring surrounding said vase and adjustable thereon for drawing the strips inwardly, a supporting standard having a hollow stem, a rod extending through said hollow stemand provided with an ejector plate at its upper end and a button at its lower end, and a spring located between the standard and the button on the ejector rod, substantially as shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ERNST WILHELM ORTH.
