- This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in anti-rattling attachments for thill and pole couplings for vehicles, and it has for its object the provision of a simple, cheaply constructed and at the same time efficient and durable device of this character, which may be quickly and easily adjusted at any time, so as to compensate for wear of the parts.

T0 or whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES C. MARTIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at West Franklin, in the county of Posey and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Thill-Oouplings; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention-relates to certain new and useful improvements in anti-rattling attachments for thill and pole couplings for vehicles, and it has for its object the provision of a simple, cheaply constructed and at the same time efficient and durable device of this character, which may be quickly and easily adjusted at any time, so as to compensate for wear of the parts.
To these ends and to such others as the invention may pertain, the same consists in the peculiar construction, and in the novel combination, arrangement and adaptation of parts, all as more fully hereinafter described, shown in the accompanying drawings, and then spe: cifically defined in the appended claim.
The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, f0rm a part of this specification, and in which drawings- Figure 1, is a longitudinal, vertical section through my device, the'same being shown in connection with the thill iron of a vehicle. Fig. 2, is a perspective View showing the several parts as separated, but in their relative positions.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates the arm or clip to which the thill iron B is attached in the usual manner, by a transverse bolt 0 which is passed through the eyes or openings D, D at the outer ends of the arms E, E of the arm A, and through the eye F of the thilliron G. 1
H is a metallic plate having its side edges recessed or cut away, as shown at H, the width of said recesses corresponding with the thickness of the arm A. This cutting away of the side edges of the plate H forms at the corners of theplate short lugs or extensions H H which lugs, when the plate is in position, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings overlap the upperand lower edges of the arms E of the arm 'A, and serve to retain the plate in position and preventing its being laterally displaced, while at the same time they do not in any manner interfere with the movement of the plate in the direction of the length of the arms E.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim to be new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
