To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, Orro LADEMANN, of Molkenmarkt- 6, Berlin, 0, Kingdom of Pruse sia, and German Empire, have invented a new andusefulOarving-Machine, (for which I have obtained Letters Patent in Austria-Hungary, No. 2,395 and No. 14,338, bearing date September 3, 1892; in Great Britain, No. 22,518, hearing date December 24, 1891; in France, No. 218,545, bearing date January 8, 1892;"in Belgium, No. 97,841, hearing date January 8, 1892, and in Italy, No. 31,107/65, bearing date January 12, 1892,) of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The object of this invention is a shaping, cutting or reproducing machine which differs from machines such as hitherto constructed in so far that while the latter have their cut ting tools carried by suitable supports and their tracer moved against a firmly fixed work block and pattern, the tracer is fixed in ma- .ohines constructed according to this invention and the tool is arranged to turn upon its own axis only while the pattern, as well as the piece being worked, is fed to the tool by the aid of a table upon which it is fixed.
The great advantage of this machine is that a very rapid rotary motion can be imparted to the cutting tool with a comparatively small expenditure of power and that in consequence of the relative fixity'of the cutting tool and of its slight mobility much more accurate work can be produced than heretofore. Furthermore the small mobility'of the device carrying the cutting tool allows of the constructions of the machine being simplified while increasing its efficiency and durability so as to re duce the repairs to a minimum.

What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
1. In a carving machine, the tracer mounted in a fixed position in the main frame, in combination with a supporting frame or carriage movable horizontally under said tracer, and a working table mounted on said traveling support, by connections which provide for vertical movement thereof, and adapted to receive and hold the pattern and piece to be operated upon, substantially 'as described.
2. In a carving machine, a tracer fixed in the frame of the machine, in combination with OTTO LADEMANN.
