FUSE-PLUG.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 508,665, dated November 14, 1893.
Application filed May 26, 1893. Serial No- 475,630- (No model.)
, of simple and cheap construction, and one in which a fuse may be readily replaced by 1111- skilled labor after it blowswithout necessitating the use of a new plug or the return of the old one to the factory to be repaired. To this end I provide a pair of detachable clips to carry the fuse, as more fully pointed out hereinafter.
In the drawings hereby annexed to and forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a View of the fuse block equipped with my. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of improved plugs. the block shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a plan, and Fig. 4 is a section taken on the line 4:, 4, of Fig. 3, of my improved'fuse plug.
A is the block to Which the lighting circuit is run; 13 B are the fuse plugs, shown more fully in Figs. 3 and 4; C, C, C, C, are the points of attachment of the line circuit, and D D are the screw holes arranged to secure the block in place. All these parts except the fuse plugs B B are such as are commonly known in the art and no further description is necessary.
Referring now to Figs. 3 and 4, E E are small clips of brass secured to the washer L of insulating material, by the screws K, K.
One of the clips engages with the screw I and serves to make connection with the center contact H in the bottom of the plug, the other contact being made by the brass shell Gconsocket, and by removing the brass shell B" usually covering the plug, expose the parts shown in Figs. 3 and 4; by loosening the screws K, K the remnants of the fuse attached to the clips F F may be removed, and a new fuse soldered to the same clips, or another fuse already provided with clips attached in its place.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and wish to protect by Letters Patent of the United States, is
A fuse plug for incandescent lighting circuits, consisting of a base, as B, having an outer threaded shell G serving as one contact, a center pin H serving as the second contact, an insulating plate Lon one end of the plug, clips secured to said plate and connected with the contacts respectively, and a fuse detachably secured to the clips, substantially as described.
