BRANCH BLOCK FOR I NCANDESCENT-LIGHTING CIRCUITS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 508,644, dated November 14, 1893.

To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALFRED SWAN, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, residing at My invention relates to branch blocks for [O incandescent lighting circuits, and has for its object to provide a simple form of such block, readily and economically made.
The drawings hereunto annexed show an embodiment of my invention, Figure 1 being a section, Fig. 2 a perspective with the cover removed, and Figs. 3 and 4 sections of the cover. A represents the base of the block, formed of any suitable insulating material.
B, B, B B, are four brass stampings provided with the usual contact screws for wiring. Upon each stamping is a clip 0 and between each two of the clips extends a glass tube inclosing a fuse wire F, serving to make connection between the main wire B and the branch wire B. The stampings are secured to the base by any suitable means, as by screws D D, or by being molded or casttherein, and are prevented from making contact in the center by a projection P about Which they are arranged in the form of a cross, at right angles; through the center of the projection is a hole for a screw S, serving to secure the branch block in place. It is manifest that any other form of fuse may be adopted for the one here shown.
What I claim, and Wish to protect by Letters Patent of the United States, is
1. As an article of manufacture, a branchblock consisting of a base, as A, having a central projection P provided with a screwthread adapted to secure a cover for the block, and with suitable line-connections, such line connections arranged by pairs at different heights, whereby the two sets of Wires are prevented from coming in contact, substantially as described.
2. As an article of manufacture, a branch block consisting of a base having a central projection provided with a screw thread adapted to secure a cover for the block and four stampings B, B, B, B, secured by pairs to the base at different heights and having their inner ends separated by the projection, and connections between them by suitable fuses, substantially as described.
