Application filed November 30, 1892. Serial end useful {Improvements in Centrifugal Creamers, of which the following is a. specification, this invention having been patented to me in France September 5, 1892, No. 224,131, and in England October 5, 1892, No. 17,707.
My invention relates to centrifugal me.-
chines for liquids and the object of my inven tron consists iii-pipes which I arrange in the 1 drum of centrifugal machines, which increase the pressure surface for the liquid, and sepaber of thin columns. I attain this object by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanyiug drawings, in which- Figure 1, is everticel section-0t a centrifugal drum, and Fig. 2, is a plan in section of i i".- 1
gel drum, i' which the pipes are arranged one inside the other, and Fig. 4, is atsectionnl plan of Fig. 3. Fig. 5, is rt vei'ticel section of a centrifugal drum, in which the liquid enters'from the top and leaves at the bottom. Fig. 6, is a vertical section of a centrifugal drum, in which the liquid enters through special inlets.
A, is the drum of a. centrifugal machine which is rotated by the shaft to. (In the drawings the shaft to, is broken off.) In the drum A, are placed tubes 13, B, in concentric circles. The pipes B, B, are fastened in the drum by providing the outer pipes with holes at, so as to receive studs 5, riveted to the drum.
"The inner pipes may be pressed against the outer ones by means of one or more tension rings or also byva. pipe placed int-he middle. The pipes 13, B, are. so arranged. that the liqul'd can enterat one end and leave at the other end thereof. For this purpose the said pipes are furnished at their inlet with holes, recesses, slots or the like, or may be cut an gular-to their a; is. I
To prevent 'the'separated light and heavy parts mixing on leaving, the'outlet surfaces may be relatively displaced, so that the jets Fi 3, is a vertical section of a centrifm oth r, Whiie ether- 5e side of each direction pass below or ever see wise they would pass other, The liquid inc-v. indieet-ed by the arrows.
The liquid to he drum through the 7 liquid enters the pipes 13, c, eaves egrein the pipes separated. into light and heevyiiquid The light. liquid 2, "to iuidtiie, where the movementis a s W the drum through heavy liquid passes the drum. and pipe m.
In the Figs; 3 en one row of pipes is increased with the like. in th smell pipes and a. ones, which st m E FL, one pip in the l-- ing rihs,so thnt i eccentriceily to li-Je, is ins i supporter In the pipe the pipe E- pipe li p ere n will be understood trifugsl m'schine, by 21' liquid is at the t n in theforencir the inlets elow is the drum, w, r
B, B, are it in order to fat/oi 7 liquid in the pipes below,
u inter e directed leaves the drum at the outlet m, and into heavy liquid, which leaves the drum at the outlet r.
What I claim is- 1. In a centrifugal ereamer, the combinntion of n rotating drum A, and a series of pipes B, located within the drum haying open bottoms and tops with vinlet and outlet pas sages at oppositefemls oi the drum, substanro tiaiiy as described.
2. In a centrifugal creamer, the combinetion of a rotating drum A, a. series of pipes B, within the same having open bottoms and tops,'an inlet at one end of the drum and two r 5 outlets leading from tiitferent points in relasemen addescribed.
3. In a centrifugal creamer, the drum A,
in successive rows of varying lengths, said drum having an inlet at one end and an outlet at the etherend, substantially as described.
In testimonythat I claim the foregoing as m my invention I havesigned my name in pres- 2 5 once of two subscribing witnesses.
