TIMOTHY J. KELLEHER, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
yIMPROVED SHOE-LACING.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 50,008, dated September 19, 1865.
To all whom it 'may concern:
Be it known that I, TIM0THY J. KELLEHEE, of Boston, in the county of Su'olk and State ot' Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in the Application of a Lacin g to a Shoe or other Article of Manufacture; and I do hereby declarethesame to be fully describedA in the following specification.,
and representedV in the accompanying drawings, of which- Figure l denotes va top view of the instepopening of a shoe as provided with my inven` tion. Fig. 2 is a transverse section, and Fig.
3 a longitudinal sectionfof the same.
there shall be a space, a, between the two of,
suiicient width to receive thelacing 1),-which, when applied to the two jlaps of the opening, is to be laced around the studs in. manner as shown in Fig. 3.
i A tongue, E, maybe applied to and arranged with the instep-opening in the usual manner. The advantage ot' my invention is that while -it enables the two-iiaps to be drawn into close contact with each other,jt causes the lacing tov be concealed from View.
Each of the studs may consist-not only of a.
Asmallfgro'oved pulley, c, inserted between the flap and the ily, buta headed rivet, d, going through the flap, the iiy, and the pulley, and
having' its lesser end upsetagainst .the rear surface ofthe Iiy or'on a washer placed against the same.
What I claim as niy'invention isl. The 'above described improved arrangement ot' the studs and the lacings with respect tothe two flaps oi' the opening.
2. The combination and arrangement of the Bies andthestuds with the two tiaps, or the same and the lacing ofthe said opening, as explained.
TIMOTHY a. KELLEHER.,
