W. E.'NIOKERSON. INGANDESGENT ELECTRIC LAMP.
Patented June 20, 1893.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VILLIAM EMERY.NICKERSON, OF CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS.
INCANDESCENT ELECTRIC LAMP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 500,076, dated June 20, 1893.
Application filed April 3, 1893. Serial No. 468,935. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM EMERY NICK- ERSON, of Cambridge, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Incandescent Electric Lamps, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, is a specification.
My invention relates to incandescent electric lamps of that class in which the neck of the lamp is closed and the leading-in wires supported by a fusible cement plug.
It consists of a device by which the manufacture of the lamp is facilitated.
In the accompanying drawing G is the glass bulb of an incandescent electric lamp, H the filament attached at h h to the leading-in wires I I.
J isa disk of mica or other suitable substance resting upon the shoulder K formed in the neck of the lamp globe and which serves as a support for the leading-in wires I I and the cement plug L. The leading-in wires II are provided at M with bends which serve to prevent them from dropping through the disk J during the manufacture of the lamp, and before the cement plug has been fixed. Instead of the bends, the wires may be flattened at this point, or a drop of solder may be attached to each of them.
I claim- In an incandescent electric lamp, the combination of the glass globe G, disk J, cement plug L, filament H; with the leadingin wires I I having the bends 11 1 adapted to support the said wires,'substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses, on this 1st day of April, A. D. 1893.
WVILLIAM EMERY NICKERSON.
