i Be it known that I, 'CHARLES CoNRAD'rof the city ot' Philadelphia, ,in the' State of Pennsyl-vania, ha've' invent-ed a newand useful Improvementin- Ice-Pitchers; and lI vvdo hereby declare'that the following is a full, clear,and exact description of the construction and op-' eration' of the same, reference being. had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- |Figura ,lis a Vertical central section of an ice-pitcher having the said jimprovement applied thereto, and Fig. 2 'ahorizontal section' of the same below--the'dotted line w y of Fig.l 1, like letters'of reference indicating the same parts when on both figures.

The object of my inventionis to ai'ord a ready, easy, and safe mode ot'rotating and tiltingenjce-pitcher as o'ccasion .may Arequire ``in pouring water from the Same, and also to obviatejhe injury which iscgenerally caused to the bottom in dropping' large luxnpsof iccl i into the pitcher.

'lt consists, substantially as hcreinafter described, in-combining` with the pitcher an encircling standor support in such a manner that, while the' stand su'pportsthe pitcher, the

latter can be readily, easil y, and safely'rotated in'either direction or ti'lted forward for the purpose o f pouring out water:v ,I

'The stand-[or support B in this instanoe consistsv of a ring, b',`re'cessed on vits side, and supported upon feet `or legs 112 b2 at a height sufticient to fully clear the bottom ot' the pitchel' A from contact with the table or bar upon 'which the stand B rests. i The inner diameter of this ring b' is a little larger-than .that of the pitchcr. A fiat ring, ba, fits loosely in the recess of the ring bl, and has an inner diameter correspondin;r with it. A ring'of Wooleucloth or t'riction rollers may be'seoured i between the two rings, it' desired.

In 'the-operation of this pitcher it will therefore be seen that both a tilting; and a rotary motion can be given to the pitcher'Awith the greatest fcility, case, andsafety, and that the bottom is much better snited to resist injux'y lfrom dropping the heavy icelnmps into the pitcherthan the old -form of construction.

Havingthus fully' desoribed'iny improveinent and pointed out its utility, What I clainn' as new therein of my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-f- 'Coxnbiuing with an ice-pitcher, A, a stand' or support, B,- so that the same will operate together substantially in the manner described and set forth, for the purposes specified.
