Be it known that I, Renner T. rI`he object ot' this invention is to facilitate the operation o t introducing the vial into the case ot' u spirit-level,l und to arrange seid case so that the vial con be readil'yy adjusted to any desired angle.

In practice I make the streigh tedge and the socket out of cast-iron, and strengthen the Whole by eJ rib extending from the socketin both directions, as shown in Fig. l of the drawings. This spirit-level is strong and durable. It is not lin-ble to get ont of truth, und it' by sonie `accident the viol breaks, thecnse cen be rendi ly opened to remove the broken viel ond put in a new one, and after the new vial hns been put in the level can be easily adjusted by shitting the spring-catches until theyv correspond tothe new viel.
