LABEL-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 490,164, dated January 17, 1893.
Application filed April 13, 1892. gerial No. 129,041. (No model.)
T0 at whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN READY, of Boonville, in the county of Oneida and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Indicating-Tablet for Photo-Printing Frames, of which the following is a specification, referones being had to the annexed drawings, forming a part thereof, in which-- Figure l is a perspective view of a printing frame showingthe application of myimproved tablet; and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the tablet.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts inv both views.
The object of my invention is to provide a simple and effective device for indicating the number of prints taken from a negative, and also for showing the condition of the print when last inspected.
My invention consists in a frame having two openings and provided with a recessed back in which is inserted a tablet of celluloid or analogous material upon which pencil marks may be made; also in the combination with the frame, of a slide placed in the recess of the back of the frame and showing through one of the openings of the frame, the said slide being suitably colored and arranged so that it will indicate by its position in the opening the condition at the last inspection,of the print being made.
The frame A, which is attached to the print ing frame B, is provided with two openings at, b, and is furnished with apertured ears 0 at opposite ends, for receiving the screws by which the frame A, is attached to the printing frame. The back of the frame A is recessed to receive a strip 0, of celluloid or other material which may be written upon with a pencil. The celluloid strip extends throughout the entire length of the recess of the frame, and in front of that portion behind the opening 5 is placed a slide D, which maybe moved lengthwise of the openings. The said slide is provided with a thumb piece (1, and its face is blacked so that when the slide is displayed so as to show its entire face, it entirely closes the opening 1), and indicates by displaying a large surface of black, that the print is nearly done. half done, the slide is only half withdrawn, thereby displaying in one half of the opening a white surface and in the other half a black surface.
Upon the strip O in the opening a, is written the name of the subject, the number of prints required, and as the prints are made and taken out of the frame, a tally is kept on the celluloid strip 0, by drawing one straight mark for each picture.
After a full set of pictures is printed, the name and tally are erased and a new name substituted.
Having thus described my invention, 1 claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,-
An indicating tablet for photo printing frames, comprising the frame A having its back recessed and provided with the openings CL 9, a writing tablet in the recess of the frame, and the slide D provided with the thumb piece at and mounted in the opening I), substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
JOHN READY.
