To aZZ whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SOLOMON KUH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sioux Falls, in the county of Minnehaha and State of South Dakota, have invented a new and useful Advertising Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in advertising devices, the object in view being to provide a simple device to be used in connection with a lamp, or other illuminating device, and capable of rotation, whereby advertisin g cards, signs, 8m, may be arranged thereon and displayed to advantage.

In carrying out my invention I employ a certain novel combination of devices which will be clearly described hereinafter in connection with the drawings, the novel features being pointed out in the appended claims.

In the drawings; Figure 1 is a perspective View of an advertising apparatus embodying my invention; Fig. 2 is a vertical central sectional view; Fig. 3 is a plan view of the concentric rings for supporting and displaying advertising cards; Fig. 4 is a plan view of the fan.

A represents a tubular body, provided with illuminated letters and figures, formed by puncturing the walls of the body portion and covering said perforations or punctures with semi-transparent shields, B, held in place by clips Z). Arranged axially in the tubular body, is a vertical supporting frame, 0, comprising the vertical bars, O 0, connected by rings,c c, said bars being united at their upper ends to support the pivot pin, D. The connecting ring at the bottom of the supporting frame is provided with a pivoted latch,E,whereby the frame may be adjusted to the body of alamp or a burner,which is arranged Within the body of the apparatus. Pivotally mounted within the tubular body, near its top, is the rotary fan, F, which is provided at its center with a socket f, to bear upon the upper end of the 1; pivot pin, and is secured at its periphery to the sides of the body. This fan is provided with deflecting wings, G G, which cause a rotation of the device by the ascending heat fromtheinclosedlamp. Inspectionopenings,

H H, are formed in the walls of the body near its top, to enable the light and the pivot to be viewed in order to insure proper adjustment.

To the outer surface of the body portion are attached keepers, I I, in which are arranged angular supporting arms, K K, adapted to support advertising cards, &c.

L L represent twin rings, the inner one of which is provided with supporting arms to engage keegers, 6 Z, on the outer surface of the body portion, and the outer one of which fits over the inner ring to engage advertising cards, as shown in Fig.1.

Thelightoftheinclosedlampshows through the semi-transparent shields which cover the perforations or punctures in the side walls of the body portion, and illuminate the cards which are supported upon the brackets.

To the upper side of the fan is attached an angular bracket, M, to which may be attached advertising cards one of which is shown in position at Tn, in Fig. 1.

From the above description it will be seen that the entire apparatus, with the exception of the interior support,is rotated by means of the heat ascending from the inclosed lamp, thus successively displaying the cards and advertising devices formed in and carried by the tubular body.

The device is simple in construction and may be cheaply manufactured, as will be readily seen from the foregoing description.

Having thus described my invention, What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is;

1. In an advertising apparatus, a cylindrical rotatable body-portion provided with apertures in its walls, clips arranged adjacent to said apertures, and semitransparent shields covering said apertures and engaged at their edges by the clips, substantially as specified.

2. In an advertising apparatus, a cylindrical rotatable body-portion, having apertured side walls covered by semitransparent shields, a fan fitted in the upper end of the body-portion, and a bracket M attached centrally to said fan to support advertising cards, substantially as specified.

3. In an advertising apparatus, the combination with the rotatable shell, of twin rings arranged concentrically therewith and sup ported by brackets attached to said shell, substantially as specified.
