Description
(NoiModeL) I G. W. PRICE. FOUNTAIN ATTACHMENT- FOR PENS.
No. 475,285; Patented May 17, 1892.
Inventor.
Gav. WW
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE WV. PRICE, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND,'ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO' IVILLIAM ALBERT, OF SAME PLACE.
FOUNTAIN ATTACHMENT FOR PENS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 475,285, dated May 17, 1892.
Apolication filed November 19, 1891. Serial No. 412,404. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE W. PRICE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have in vented certain new and useful Improvements in Fountain Attachments for Pens; and I do declare the following to be'a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 of the drawings is an outer view of the pen and attachment. Fig. 2 is an inner view of same. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the attachment.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in fountain attachments for pens; and it consists in the novel construction and combination of parts, as hereinafter specified.
In the accompanying drawings, the letter A designates my improved attachment, which consists of a piece of fine wire formed at one end into a small hollow coil a, and at the other end bent into a loop I). T
This attachment is applied by placing the hollow coil a in the concave of the pen above the point. The extended end is then put through the slot 01 of the pen and is bent into the loop I) to retain it in place. The spring action of the loop is sufficient to hold the coil in place. When the pen is dipped, the hollow coil a becomes filled with ink, acting as a reservoir from which the ink is slowly fed under the movements of the pen-points.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I believe to be new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The combination, with a pen, of a hollow coil or spiral held in the concave face thereof and serving as an ink-reservoir, the free end of said spring being extended through the slot of the pen and looped on the back thereof, substantially as specified.
2. The fountain attachment for pens, comprising the wire having the hollow coil aand the spring-loop b, said loop being formed integral with the coil and adapted to pass through the slot of the pen, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE W. PRICE.
