SPECIFICATION forming'part of Letters Patent No. 472,985, dated April 19, 1892.

Be it known that we, WALLEN 'S. DEATS and DANIEL BROWN, citizens of the United States, residing at Laredo, in the county of ries in an open position and against accidental closing by their own weight or by the wind, whereby air and light may be admitted to the apartment.

Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view of a portion of a window -blind, the slats of which are supported in an open position through the medium of a slat-holder constructed in accordance with our invention. Fig. 2 is a detail in perspective of the holder.

Like letters of reference indicate like parts in all the figures of the drawings.

B designates one of the side bars of a window-blind, between which and the corresponding bar (not shown) are pivotally mounted the series of slats S. The inner edges of the slats are provided with eyes E, which engage with similar eyes upon a vertical connectingbar 0, by which the slats may be manipulated as a .whole.

The holder H is formed of spring sheet metal and of a strip thereof of suitable length bent at its center to form an eye I and having its terminals T beyond the eye diverged slightly and then disposed parallel to each other, as shown, and terminating at their ends I in oppositely-bent ends 0.

The holder is constructed of spring metal, and by compressing the terminals together their free ends may be inserted between the slats S and their opposite outwardly-curved ends engaged over the outer edges of said slats when the holder is released from pressure of the hand. When in this position it will be seen that the spring terminals press evenly across the inner faces of two adjacent slat-s at each side of the pivots or centers of the latter, and hence said slats are prevented from closing and are maintained in parallelism throughout the series. If desired, a chain N may be loosely connected at one end with the eye I of the holder and the opposite end of the chain provided with the screw-eye A, designed to be inserted into the window-casing, whereby the holder is always at hand and prevented from becoming displaced.

Having described our invention, what we claim is 1 1. The herein -described slatholder for blinds, the same consisting of the springmetal strip bent to U form and adapted to be inserted between the slats of blinds, substantially as specified.

2. The herein-described holder for the slats of blinds, consisting of a spring-metal strip bent at its center to form an eye and opposite terminals, the latter being adapted to be interposed between two adjacent slats, and the ends of the terminals oppositely bent to engage the outer edges of the slats, and the attaching-chain loosely connected with the eye and adapted for connection with the casing, substantially as'specified.
