To all whom it may concern.-

Y Be it known that we, RALPH L. HANscoME and RAY FERGUSON, citizens of the United States, residing at Kingman, in the county of Kingman and State of Kansas, have invented 'a new and useful Sash-Holder, of which the parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claim hereto appended.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a sectional View of a portion of a window provided with a sash-holder constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a similar view taken at right angles to Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a Vdetail perspective view of the sash-holder.

1 designates a casing constructed of suitable material and secured to aWindow-frame 2, and provided with an inner inclined face 3, adapted to force a roller 4 against a sash 5 to prevent the latter slipping downward and thereby hold the same at any desired adjustment. The roller 4t is journaled at the lower end of a springactuated rod 6, which is mounted in the casing 1, and is adapted to be lifted by a lever 7 to raise the roller 4 out of engagement with the sash to permit the same to be lowered or adjusted at any desired position. The rod 6 has its lower end bifurcated or forked to receive the roller 4, and the latter is held in engagement with the sash by a spiral spring 8, which is coiled around the rod and has its lower end engaging the forked portion 9 of the rod and its upper end engaging a washer 10, which bears against the upper portion of the casing, and the latter is provided with an opening 11 to receive the rod. The lever '7 is pivoted by-a pin 12 on a fulcrnming-block 13, and it is arranged in a recess 14 thereof.

In order to prevent the edge of the sash which is engaged by the roller being injured, a metal strip 15 is secured to and setintothe sash.

It will be seen that the device is simple and inexpensive in construction and positive and reliable in operation.

Vhat we claim is- A sash-holder comprising a casing having an inclined inner face, a roller arranged in the casing and moving against the inclined face and adapted to engage alsash, a springactuated rod mounted in the casing and having the roller journaled on it, and a handlelever fulcrumed intermediate its ends and having its inner end attached to the rod, substantially as described.
