BURIAL APPARATUS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 454,331, dated J une 16, 1891t Application tiled November 3, 1890. Serial No. 370,233.
To all whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, CHARLEs M. CHAMBLIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newton, in the county of Jasper and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful coffin attachment to be attached to the bottom of coins and burial-Gaskets for greater convenience in lowering thelninto graves, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in con attachments; and its object is to provide an attachmentby means of which cofins and burial-Gaskets maybe more conveniently lowered to their places in the grave. Iattan this object by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which the ligure represents a portion of the bottom and side of a cotti-n or burial-casket with device attached as it appears ready for use.
The attachment consists of a plate A, with a boss B for holding the coffin or casket ott of the bottom of the box, and slot C, in which the hook E, attached to the end of a cord or a (No model.)
strap, is inserted. Four of the plates are fastened by means of a screw D, passing through the boss B to the bottom of the coffin or casket, two on each side, one near the head and one near the foot -of the coihn or casket.
