Description
(No Model.) A. G. PESSANO.
BAND PULLEY. No; 452,730. Patented May 19,1891.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANTONIO C. PESSANO, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO GEORGE V. CRESSON, OF SAME PLACE.
BAN D-PU LLEY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letter 5 Patent No. 452,730, dated May 19, 1891.
Application filed February 25, 1891. Serial No. 382,770. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that LANTONIO O. PESSANO, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Band-Pulleys, of which invention the following is a specification.
This invention relates to the pulley described in PatentNo. 161,206, granted to John Charlton, March 23, 1875.
In the annexed drawings, Figure lis a front elevation of pulleys embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same, omitting drip-cup, the pulleys in these views being shown as set at different angles, respectively, with relation to the hanger-post. The other views represent details, Fig. 3 being a perspective view of the head; Fig. 4, a longitudinal section through the middle of the disk and its hollow arm, showing the socket in that arm for the spindle of the wrist-piece; Fig. 5, a longitudinal section through the middle of the wrist-piece, with the pulleyshaft therein. Fig.6 is an inverted sectional plan on the line X X. of Fig. 2.
Similar letters denote similar parts in the several figures.
is provided with a recess 9, fitting center 0. It is also provided with slots it, through which the ends of bolts e project.
i represents nuts, by means whereof the disk f, having been rotated more or less on head 6 to obtain the required adjustment, is secured to head I) in a readilyaccessible manner.
j represents an arm projecting from disk f. It is cored to form a socket for the spindle k of the wrist-piece Z. m represents the shaft of pulley n; 0, set-screws.
When the diskfis secured to head I) in the manner described, it is freed from all liability to jam while being turned on head Z). At the same time the cost of manufacture is much reduced, the bolt-recesses d in the head and the slots h through the disk being cored out in the casting, and filing and planing rendered unnecessary. It will also be seen that the pulley gets capacity for two additional movements through the wrist-joint in armj.
I claim In a band-pulley, the head I), the front whereof is provided with the raised center 0 and with the cored recesses, the bolts e, and nuts 1 in combination with the slotted disk f, provided with the socketed arm j, the wrist piece Z, and the shaft on, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
ANTONIO O. PESSANO.
