Beit known that we, GEORGE L. DUroHEE, of Douglas, in the county of Allegan and State of Michigan, and CHARLES WILLARD BoYLE, ofBradley,in the countyofAllegan andStateof Michigan, have iuventeda new and Improved Feed Regulator, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to feed-delivery de- 1o vices of the class employed in connection with roller-mills and purifiers, the object of the invention being to provide for the even delivery of the stock to the shaker and to provide for the regulation of the amount of i 5 stock delivered from the shaker to the rollers. To the ends above named the invention consists of certain novel constructions, arrangements, and combinations of elements, which will be hereinafter fully described, zo and specifically pointed out in the claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar figures and letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the 2 5 views. I

In the drawings, represents an inolosing case, in which there are arrangedone or more 3 5 hoppers, as A A', said hoppers being arranged to deliver stock tp trays 11,tl1at are mounted upon links 12. lThe stock is delivered to the hoppers through openings d, formed 1n the top of the case 10, passing downward through to said openings upon spreading-blocks 13,that are triangular in cross-section, such blocks acting to throw the stock laterally upon the trays and upon detlecting-plates 14, that are arranged as shown best in Fig. 2, the stock passing downward from the deflecting blocks or plates to the trays. Beneath the trays there is arranged a rook-shaft 15, which has an upwardly-extending crank 16, that fits in an aperture b, formed in a downwardlyhextending flange 17, that is carried by the trays.
To the outer end of the shaft 15 there is secured alever-arm 1S, havinga number of apertures, as indicated by dotted lines in Figs.
1 and 2, such apertures being provided to receive a coupling-pin or set-screw 19, which passes through apertures formed in a socket 20, carried by a connecting-rod 21, this arrangement being adopted'to provide for the regulation of the stroke. To the other end of the rod 21 there is secured an eccentric-strap 6o 22, thatruns upon an eccentric 23, carried by a driving-shaft 24, which said shaft is provided with a pulley 25, arranged to receive a driving-belt.
From the construction above described it will be seen that if the shaft 2a be rotated the shaft 15 will be rocked and a reciprocating motion will beimparted to the trays, thus distributing the stock evenly thereon.
In order that the amount of stockfed from 7o the trays may be regulated, I provide plates 30, that are adjustably connected to arms 31,- the connection between the plates and arms being established by means of bolts 32 and nuts 33, the lower ends of the arms being slotted, as shown at c, to provide for the passage of the bolts. A further adjustment is secured through the medium of rock-shafts 35, upon which the arms 3l are mounted, the arrangement being such that by turning the 8o shaft through the medium of its lever arm or handle 36 the arms, and with them the plate 30, may be raised or lowered.
Any suitable means may be provided for holding the handles 36 and rock-shafts 35 in 85 any adjusted position. In the present istance We have shown set-nuts 36X.
A still further adjustment of the plates is secured by providing each plate with an arm 40, upon which there is adj ustably mounted 9o a weight 41, the weight tending to counteract the effect of the pressure of the stock upon the inner face of the plate.
From the construction above described it will be seen that the stock may be delivered to the trays so that it will rest very evenly thereon, that the shaking of the trays maybe regulated to suit the requirements of the stock that is being operated upon, and that the amount of stock fed from the trays may be regulated to a nioety through the lnediuin of the plates 10.

Having thus described our invention, we Claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. In a feed-regulator for roller mills, and in combination with a suitable hopper and inelosing easing, shaking-trays 11, provided with strips 50, arranged underneath said hopper, a means of shaking the trays, plates 30, arranged near the free end of the trays provided witli adjustable Weights 41, arranged as described, arms 531, secured to said plates, rock-shafts 35, jonrnaled in said easing and provided with handles 36, arranged outside of said easing, and means for securing the said handles and rook-shafts in any adjusted position, substantially as described, and for the purposes herein set forth.
2. In a feed-regulator for roller-mills, and in combination with` a suitable hopper and casing-blocks 13, arranged in the hopper, sliak ing-trays 11, provided with strips 50, arranged underneath said hopper, a means of shaking the trays, plates 30, provided with arrns 31,
and rook-shafts 35, journaled in the easing, adjustable connections between the arms and plates, arms that extend outward from the plates, and Weights carried by the levers adapted to move toward and away from the plates, substantially as set forth.
3. In feed-regulators for roller-mills, and in combination with a double hopper and a suitable inelosing easing, blocks 13, arranged Within the hoppers, trays 11, provided with strips 50, arranged beneath the l1oppers,a flange 17, secured to the underside of the trays, rook-shafts arranged underneath the trays, having a Crank 16, engaging said flange, a lever 1S, carried by rook-shafts provided with a number of apertures adapted to receive a coupling-pin 19, aeonneeting-rod 21, provided with a socket. 20, having corresponding sockets adapted to pin 19 for the regulation of the stroke, an eccentric-strap 22, secured to rod 21, an eeoentrie 23, and drivingshatt 2l, arranged substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
