To all whom it may concern.-

Beit known that I, RANSOM SABIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Shelby, in the county of Oceana and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Portable Pantry, of which the following is a specifica-- tion.

The invention relates to portable pantries.

The object of the present invention is to provide a portable pantry of simple and inexpensive construction capable of containing all the articles necessary for a complete pantry.

The invention consists in the construction and novel combination of parts hereinafter described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed in the claims hereto appended.

In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of a portable pantry constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a central vertical transverse sectional view. Fig. 3 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view. Fig. a is a detail perspective view of the refrigerator-pan. Fig. 5 is a similar view of the revolving spice-box. Fig. 6 is a detail view showing the manner of journaling the combined bread-board and door. Fig. 7 is a detail view illustrating the manner of securing the spring-actuated journals.

Referring to the accompanying drawings by letter, A designates the frame, which is divided by an approximately central partingstrip A into an .upper and lower portieri. The upper half of the pantry is divided by two partitions A2 into a central section and two side sections. Each side section has a hinged door B and two shelves b and li', which occupy the upper portion and leave a lower space b2, in which is pivotally mounted a bin C, whose lower front end is curved and whose upper end is provided with a handle c, by

mmeans of which the bin is tilted to expose its open upper end to permit access to its contents. The journals c2 of the bin C find bearings in inclined slots d of side pieces D, and the inclined slots have their upper ends open to enable the bin to be removed from the pantry. The inclined slots may be made in the side pieces D, as described, or similar grooves can be made in the partitions A2 and the sides of the frame A, which grooves will answer the same purpose as the slots d.

The central section of the upper half of the pantry is provided with a shelf a, which di- 55 vides the section which is provided beneath the shelf with a number of drawers, and is subdivided above the shelfa byshelves ac. Between the shelves a and a2 is pivoted a rotary spice-box E, which is composed of two 6o disks or octagonal plates e e', which are secured together by radial partitions e2, which form spaces adapted to receive segmental drawers cr boxes e3, and drawers F are provided at each side of the spicebox E Be 65 tween the shelf a and the shelf a2 are secured partitions a4, which are provided with inclined slots a5, that are adapted to receive the ends or handles of a rolling-pin G. The rolling-pin lies about midway between the shelves 7o ce and ft2, and below the rolling-pin is arranged a meat-board H. The upper port-ion of the central section is closed by doors I, which are hinged to the partition A2, and the lower portion is closed by a combined bread-board and l75 doorvJ. The sides of the door are provided near the lower end with recesses j, in which are arranged spring-actuated journals j', which are retained in the recesses by slotted plates j?. The outer ends of the journals j 8o are reduced and beveled, and form shoulders which bear against the slotted plates jz and prevent the springs forcing the journals out of the recesses. The partitions A2 are provided near their lower front edges with plates 8 5 having circular bearing-recesses a, which have communicating with them grooves al, whose bottoms are beveled orinclined, whereby whenlthe spring-actuated journals j are brought opposite the grooves ai they may 9o be forced in said grooves, and thereby cause the inclined or beveled bottoms to depress the spring actuated journals and enable the bread-board to be removed from its bearing. The lower halt' of the pantry is also divided 95 by partitions A3 into three sections or compartments, which are closed by hinged doors K and K. rlhe outer compartments are pro vided with pivoted bins L, which are constructed and mounted similarly to the bin C, roo heretofore described, and the central compartm ent and door K are provided with a lini'ng of galvanized iron or similar sheet metal M, which forms a dead-air space to serve as a non-conductor of heat and cold and adapt the central compartment to perform the function of a refrigerator. The partitions A3 are provided on their sides, which form the Walls of the center compartmentsm'ith curved strips N, that are adapted to support a refrigerator-pan O, Whose bottom o is curved, and has its ends o2 rolled. The sides o3, o4, o5, and .0 are soldered or similarly secured to the curved bottom o and form a pan adapted to receive ice. The pan is provided with a depending tube P, which extends below the upper edges of a tank Q., that is secured to one of the partitions A3, and has communicating with it a drain-pipe R, that is also secured to the partition A3, and extends along the saine to the bottom of the pantry, near the front thereof, to permit the escape of the Water, which is designed to be received by some suitable vessel. The bottom o extends beyond the sides dE and o4, and is provided with perforations o7 to permitthe air, after it has been cooled, to descend and be replaced by warmer air.

From the foregoing description and the accompanying drawings the construction, operation, and advantages of the invention will readily be seen; and I desire it to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise details of construction herein shown and described, as I may Without departing' from the spirit of the invention make various minor changes therein.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is-f l. The combination, in a portable pantry, of

thc partitions A2, providedlwith recesses a, forming bearings and grooves c7 communieating with said recesses, and the combined bread-board and door provided with springactuated journals adapted to engage said recesses and be removed therefrom, substantially as described.

2. The combination, in a portable pantry, of the partitions A2, provided with recesses a and grooves al, the combined bread-board and door having recesses, the spring-actuated journals having their ends beveled and adapted to engage said recesses a and to be removed therefrom, and the slotted plate retaining the spring-actuated journal in the recesses of the combined bread-board and door, substantially as described.

3. The combination, in a portable pantry, of the partitions A5, the curved strips secured to the partitions, a refrigerator-pan resting on said'strips and comprising th e curved bottom, having its front and rear ends rolled and being provided with a depending tube, the sides secured to said bottom and having the front one bent over and secured to the outside of the bottom to provide a suitable hand-hold, the sides of said bottom projecting beyond the sides of the pan and being provided with perforations, and a suitable drain-pipe, substantially as described.
