To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THEODOR OTTO, civil engineer, a subject of the King of Prussia, rcsiding at Schkenditz, Prussia, German Em- 5 pire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trucks for Vehicles for Ropeways, (for which Ihave obtained Letters Patent in the following countries: Austria-Hungary, No. 3,556 and No. 22,064,, dated May 13,
[O 1887; France, No. 173,193, dated December 28, 1885; Belgium, No. 71,390, dated December 28, 1885; Italy, Vol. 22, No. 23,320, Vol. 17, No. 322, dated June 30, 1888; Great Britain, No. 7,507, dated May 23, 1887, and Spain, r5 libro 6, folio 385, No. 8,085, dated June 30, 1888;) and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to trucks for vehicles 2 5 for ropeways. Thetrucks heretofore employed for vehicles of ropeways consist of two rollers which move upon the carrying or standing rope and are held in a frame from which the transporting-vessel is suspended by means of a hanger pivoted to the said frame. In most cases the latter consists of a cast-iron piece, which has on one side two projecting bolts, upon which the rollers are turning round. Frames of this kind do not form a 3 5 rigid whole. Their parts are therefore liable to become loose, and especially the bolts will bend in time while the nave-holes of the rollers are getting conical. This causes them to assume an oblique position, in which the trucks are liable to slip off the rope. For 0bviating these defects according to the present invention the rollers turn on axles which are bedded at both ends in the frame. The latter consists of two steel plates with a cast- 5 iron piece between them, to which they are riveted. The axles are made hollow and serve as receptacles for lubricating material.
In the accompanying drawings, Figures 1 and 2 illustrate part of a ropeway having a truck constructed according to the present invention. Figs. 3, 1, and 5 show a front elevation, horizontal section, and side elevation of the improved truck. Fig. 6 shows the intermediate piece in vertical section, and Fig. 7 a bolt constituting an axle for the rollers in elevation. I

The truck comprises the two rollers a, moving upon the rope A and adapted to turn between the two plates 17 upon bolts (1. The bolts d are made hollow, and after the removal of the screw (1 they can be filled with a lubricant, which is allowed to pass through holes 71 in the periphery of the bolts to the wearing-surfaces of the said bolts and of the hole in the naves of the rollers. The intermediate piece g and the plates 1) are provided with a hole 0 for the reception of the pivot f, extending from the hanger D and held in its place by the washer m and screw 19. Through the lubricating-hole 0' lubricant can be conducted to the pivot f.
By reason of the described arrangement of the truck the rollers Ct cannot assume an oblique position relatively to the hanger D, thus obviating the liability of the rollers to slip off the rope.
