The compound is then screened while in a heated state through a fine sieve to clear it of all lumps and coarse particles and to complete the thorough mixture of the ingredients of the compound. Great care must be taken to evenly incorporate the zinc-dust and agalite with the paraffine.

ANTI-F0 U LING PAINT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters latent No. 441,292, dated November 25, 1890. Application filed June 21, 1890. Serial No. 356,263. (No specimens.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, MAX EMIL DEJONGE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Stapleton, Staten Island, county of Richmond, and State of New York, have invented and made certain Improvements in Compounds for Ships Bottoms and other Similar Uses, which I call an Anti-Corrosive Anti-Fouling Compound; andI do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description and specification of the same.
I use in preparing my compound the following ingredients: hard parafline-wax, zincdust, and agalite, (ashes u andlcompound them by melting the paraffine and mixing the zinc-dust with it while in a heated state to the desired consistency, about four to six pounds of zinc-dust to one pound of hard parafline-wazgand I then bring the whole mass to a pulpy state by adding from one to two ounces of agalite. The compound is then screened while in a heated state through a fine sieve to clear it of all lumps and coarse particles and to complete the thorough mixture of the ingredients of the compound. It is obnoxious to parasites which attack ships bottoms. The addition of agalite to the compound gives increased strength and stiffness to it, and raises the melting-point of the compound to which it has been added. This is desirable when used on ships which sail to and from hot countries.

What I claim as my invention and as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
' The herein-described anti-fouling or noncorrodible compound, consisting of paraffine, zinc-dust, and agalite combined in substantially the proportions and manner set forth.
