P. MINK.
WATCH BOW FASTBNER.
No. 439,414. Patented Oct. 28, 1890.
Witnesses: EICJLW FB UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRITZ MINK, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASS IGNOR TO THE KEY- STONE IVATCH CASE COMPANY, OF PENNSYLVANIA.
WATCH-BOW FASTEN ER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 439,414, dated October 28, 1890.
Applicationfiled April 15,1890. Serial No. 347,987. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FRITZ MINK, of the city and county of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented an Improvement in lVatch-Bow Fasteners, of which the following is a specification.
My invention has reference to watch-bow fasteners; and it consists of certain improvements which are fully set forth in the following specification and shown in the accompanying drawings, which form a part thereof.
The object of my invention is to produce a convenient and economical device for fastening the ends of the bow to the pendant of a watch-case. 1
In carrying out my invention I provide the pendant on diametrically-opposite sides with apertures through which are inserted internally-screw-threaded socket-pieces adapted to be screwed upon the ends of the bow. These socket-pieces are provided upon their inner ends with flangesor projections to prevent them being withdrawn through the apertures of the pendant and are locked therein by means of an interior locking-piece.
The details of my invention are more fully set forth in the description of the drawings, which follows:
Figure 1 is a sectional side elevation of a watch-case pendant and bow illustrating my invention. Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view of the same on the line :0 w of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a similar view to Fig. 1, illustrating a modification of my invention; and Fig. 4 is a crosssectional view on the line y y of Fig. 3.
A is the watch-case pendant.
B is the bow, having screw-threaded ends I). The watch-case pendant A is provided with apertures aupon diametrically-opposite sides.
0 are internally-screw-threaded socketpieces inserted from the interior of the pendant through the apertures a, and provided on their inner ends with flanged rims or projections 0 to prevent their being withdrawn through the apertures a.
D is the interior locking-piece to lock the socket C in place.
In Figs. 3 and 4 the inner face of the pendant about the apertures a is recessed or countersunk to receive the rims or flanged ends 0 of the socket-pieces, and the locking-piece D is made smooth upon its outer surface, while in Figs. 1 and 2 these flanged ends 0 are shown projecting within the interior of the pendant,
and the locking-piece D is made with its lower 5 5 part of smaller diameter, so as to fit against the flanged ends, while the upper portion bears against the inner surface of the pendant. It will be seen that in a construction of this kind screw-threads upon the ends of the bow b may run in the same direction, the tubular socketpieces 0 being screwed upon them from the interior of the pendant.
\Vhile I prefer the details of construction which are here shown, I do not limit my in- 6 5 socket-pieces adapted to be inserted from the 7 5 interior of the pendant through said apertures and screwed upon the ends of the bow.
2. The combination, with a watch-bow having its ends screw-threaded, of a pendant provided on diametrically-opposite sides with So apertures, internally-screw-threaded sockets adapted to be inserted from the interior of the pendant through said apertures and screwed upon the ends of the bow, and flanges or projections upon the ends of said socketpieces to prevent them being withdrawn through said apertures.
3. The combination, with a watch-bow having its ends screw-threaded, of a pendant provided on diametrically-opposite sides with apertures, internally-screw-threaded sockets adapted to be inserted from the interior of the pendant through said apertures and screwthreaded upon the ends of the bow, flanges or projections upon the ends of said socket-pieces 5 to prevent them being withdrawn through said apertures, and an internal locking-piece pendant but adapted to be fitted thereto to within the pendant to lock the ends of the fasten the ends of the bowto it. w sockets in place. In testimony of which invention I have 4. Ina Watch-bow fastener, the combination hereunto set my hand. 5 ofawatch-bowhavingitsendsscrew-threaded, FRITZ MINK.
