Specification of Letters Patent N0. 4,3 55, dated January 15, 1846,

T0 all wh0m z't may 00n061% Be it known that I, HABVEY W. SABIN, of Gorham, in the county of Ontario and Stute of New York, have inve'nted a new und useful Improvement in Beehives; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exactdescription thereof, reference being had to the accompanying d1aW- ing, in which Figure l, represents a common bureau hive with my improvements aflixed. Fig. 2, one of my improved honey boxes set up. Fig. 8, part-s of the honey b0x detached.

The natura of my invention consists in forming the honey boxes so that 2111 the sides can be readily detached (they go together with d0wel pins o1 other suitable contrimnce) so that said boxes can be lined with paper around the sides und bottom that is easily renioved wit-h the honey the top of the b0x has a thin board under it 011 which the co1nb is formed.

The hive can be made of any of the known patterns but I prefer the Well. known one called the bureau hive which is represented in my drawings; the honey b0Xes are of the connnon form as shown at Fig. 2, but so constructed as t0 be taken t0 pieces as may be more c1early seen in Fig. 3, euch side being separate; 011 the side and back a paper is put these pieces turn over the edges, und the dowel pins that hold the box together confine it 2u1d also the bottom COV- ering (b) when the sides und bottom are put together a thin board is placed in that comes flush with the top of the sides; 0ver this the true fop (d) fits and the whole is ready for use as shown in Fig. 2, and When this box is filled the honey can all be removed fro1n tho box on ihe bomrd (c) surronnded by tho paper und leaving S:1id box periecfly denn und ready for uso Wilh out lweaking the co1nb; thus szwing the expense of nmking new additional boxes o1 c]eaning he o1d ones, und obtaining the honey in the 1nost perfect and expeditious way.
