UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CARL STULPNAGEL, on NEW YORK, N. Y.
ADVERTISING- VEHICLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 432,776, dated. July 22, 1890.
Application filed October 15, 1889- Serial No. 327,136. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it. known that I, CARL STULPNAGEL, of the city, county, and State of New York, a citizen of the Empire of Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Advertising-Vehicles, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a vehicle for carrying and displaying advertisements by day or night.
The invention consists in the construction and combination of parts and details, as will be fully described and set forth hereinafter, and finally pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings,Figure 1 is a front view of my improved advertising-vehicle, parts being broken out and others in section. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view of'the same. Fig. 3 is a plan view of the under side of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
In the circular vehicle-frame A the axle B is mounted to turn,on which axle the wheels C and O are mounted, the wheel C being fixed on the axle and the wheel 0' loose. From the rear part of the frame A the handle D projects and from-the front a fork E projects, in which the additional wheel F is mounted. The axle B passes through a sleeve G in the frame A, which sleeve is supported by the longitudinal shaft H in the frame A. From the intersection of the sleeve G and shaft H the threaded stem J projects upward. A circular plate K, having a central neck K, rests upon rollers L on the axle B and shaft H. On the plate K a cylindrical or polygonal frame M is formed, which is provided with a cone-shaped top or head N, the bottom diameter of which is preferably greater than the diameter of the casing M.
The casing M and its conical top N surround a tubular central standard 0, screwed on the stem J and projecting above the top of the conical top N, which standard is provided with a series of burner-tips P. A receptacle Q for gasoline is placed on the upper end of the standard 0. The beveled cogwheel R on the axle 13 engages a beveled cogwheel S on the under sides of the plate K.
The cylindrical casing or frame M is provided with a door T.
The rods or ribs in the cylindrical casing M and top N may be covered with wire-netting, as shown in Fig. 2, or with any other suitable material, and on the same sheets of paper, canvas, or other material bearing advertisements are secured.
WVhen thevehicle is trundled or rolled along, the casing M and its head N are rotated around the fixed standard 0, thus displaying the advertisements to great advantage.
At night the lamps or burners within the casing are lighted, so as to clearly show the advertisements. j
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination, with a vehiclerame having a transverse axle and a shaft at right angles to the axle, of rollers mounted on said axle and shaft, a plate resting on said rollers, a tubular standard supported on the vehicleframe at the intersection of the shaft and aXle, a casing formed on the above-mentioned plate and surrounding the vertical standard, burner-tips on said vertical standard, a gasoline-receptacle on said standard, a beveled pinion on the axle of the vehicle, and a beveled cog-Wheel on the under side of the abovementioned plate and engaging said beveled pinion, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that 1 claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CARL STllLPNAGEL.
