In the modified construction shown in Fig. 5, Sheet 2,. I dispense with the longitudinal chamber f as an integral part of the body B, and substitute therefor the detachable elbows s, pipes t, and three-way T to, within which I place the ball 7c, and to which I attach the discharge-pipe cl and air-chamber A. The operation of this modified construction is substantially the same as that of the one shown in Figs. 1, 2, 3, and at, and needs no repetition.
In the modification shown in Fig. 6 I substitute for the ball k a short cylinder o, reciprocating within the recess j of the longitudinal chamber f.
In the modified form shown in Fig. 7 I place the valve-chamber 3' above and outside the body B and have it communicate with the chamber f by meansof two ports w and w, but close the chamber between the ports, thus dividing the chamber f into two chambers or passages, the two outer ends of which communicate with the longitudinal chamber e and the two inner ends with the valve chamber j Within this valve-chamber 7' I place the short cylinder or valve 10 which operates (through its reciprocating motion) to alternately open and close the ports w and w.
