SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 424,916, dated April 1, 1890.
Application filed January 31, 1890. Serial No. 338,801. (No specimens.)

Beit known that I, BERNHARD VILMSEN, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Christmas-Tree Ornaments, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings.
My invention consists in forming a Christmas-tree ornament of chenille tinsel and a connected ball, forming a brilliant and attractive article for the purpose intended, as will be hereinafter fully set forth.
Figures l to 8, inclusive, represent face views of a Christmas-tree ornament embodying my invention. Fig. 9 represents a top view of a portion thereof.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
Referring to the drawings, A designates a Christmas -tree ornament consisting of a body B of chenille tinsel and a ball C connected therewith. The bodies are of various shapes, such as cylindrical, elliptical, oval, heart, diamond, &c.
In Figs. 1 and 2 flies or tails D are shown as attached to the balls C, the same being of tinsel.
It will be seen that the ornament isof a brilliant and beautiful natu re,its beauty being increased by covering the balls with colored oss-silk, said silk being wound around the balls and concealing the periphery thereof.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A Christmas-tree ornament consisting of a body of chenille tinsel and a ball connected therewith, substantially as described.
2. A Christmas-tree ornament composed of a body of chenille tinsel with a ball connected therewith, said ball having a covering of flosssilk, substantially as described.
8. In a Christmas-tree ornament, a body of chenille tinsel and a ball connected therewith, in combination with the fly D, substantially as described.
