when the plunger is released and is returned by the spring to its normal position the lever will again engage the notch in the top of the plunger and lock the plunger, so that it cannot be operated again until another coin has been placed in the slot.

In order to make it impossible for the wheel to be turned more than the desired distance each time a coin is placed in the slot, I prefer to connect the sliding bar and the wheel, as follows: Upon the face of the wheel I provide a series of pins 41. The bar 9 extends between these pins and thus locks the wheel and makes it impossible for any one to turn the wheel by applying power to that portion of the wheel that is exposed through the opening 7. The bar 9 is provided with an inclined slot t3, and with an oppositely-inclined surface 45, which connects with the upper portion of the slot 43. As the bar continues to move inward, the pin passes through the slot 43, and therebythe wheel is turned for a short distance, but preferably not enough to expose the next recess in the wheel through the opening 7. The plunger is then released, the bar returns to its fromer position, and as it does so the pin which is now at the top of the slot 43 is e11- gaged by the inclined surface 45, which completes the movement of the wheel. \Vith this construction and arrangement in order to operate the wheel it is necessary to place a coin in the slot, push in the plunger, and then release it, and the wheel does not turn so as to expose its next recess until after the plunger is released.

I design to use this device for selling postage-stamps. I then adjust it so that it will be operated by a five-cent piece. I place two two-cent stamps in each of the recesses in the wheel 3. By placing a nickle or five-cent piece in the slot and operating the plunger the wheel may be turned, so as expose the next recess and the stamps may be removed through the opening 7. The device may, however, be used for selling other articles.

I claim as my invention- 1. The combination, with asuitable casing, of the wheel provided with a series of receptacles, the sliding bar engaging therewith, the plunger for moving said bar, the pivoted lever 21, arranged to engage said plunger and provided with a slot 23, and the slotted sleeve 25, arranged upon said lever, substantially as described.

2. The combination, with the wheel 3, of the sliding bar engaging said wheel and provided with the lug 33, the operating-plunger, the pivoted lever adapted to lock said plunger, and the slotted sleeve upon said lever provided with a lug 31, adapted when the end of the lever carrying the sleeve is depressed to be engaged by-the lug 33 upon the sliding bar, for the purpose specified.

3. The combination, with the casing, of the plunger, the coin-operated releasing device, the wheel provided with a series of pins, and the sliding bar connected with said plunger, extending between said pins and provided with an inclined groove and an oppositelyinelined surface connecting with the top of said groove, substantially as described.

4. The combination, with the wheel, the plunger, and the connecting device between said plunger and wheel, of the plunger looking and releasing device comprising the pivoted lever having a weighted end adapted to engage said plunger and slotted atits opposite end, a sliding sleeve arranged upon said lever and provided with a slot that registers with the slot in the lever, and a spring retaining said sleeve upon the lever, substantially as described.
