Description
UNITED STATES PATENT @EEICEQ ALBERT RAMIIIOSER, OF BERLIN, GERMANY.
BUTTON vOR STUD.
SPECIFICATION formi-ng part of Letters Patent No. 413,763, dated October 29, 1889.
' Application nea August 8,1887. sentire. 246,475. moneda.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT RAMMosER, merchant, of Berlin, in the Kingdom of Prussia and German Empire,'l1ave invented new and useful Improvements in Safety Screw Fastenings, of which the following is a speciiication, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invention is an improvement in buttons, and relates particularly to that class of buttons which are made in two parts, the parts being detachable from each other.
The invention consists in the details of construction particularly described, and made the subject of the annexed claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l represents a sectional View of the upper part of the button, and Fig. 2 a like View of the lower half.
The head of the button is shown at 0L, and may be of any desired shape and composed of any suitable material. It is connected to a tubular shank b, screw-threaded internally, and projecting from the central inner portion is a headed stud c, the head being made approximately cone-shaped, with square shoulders in the rear of the head. The lower half of the button is provided with a screwthreaded exterior surface, which is adapted to the screw-threads of the part b. Springarms project from the end of the lower half b', as shown at e, and these curve inwardly, so as to form a series of hooks, as at f, which are adapted to hook over the headed stud c of the upper half. The outer faces of the spring-arms are made flaring, so that as the lower half is screwed in place within the upper half the cone shape of the stud acting upon the flaring ends of the spring-arms spreads them until the hooks catch behind the shoulders of the stud c, and this will prevent any tendency of the parts to become unscrewed under the ordinary strain which is placed upon them.
I claim as my invention- In a two-part button, a tubular shank screwthreaded internally, having a headed stud extending into the center thereof at its inner extremity, the other part of said button being screw-threaded, corresponding to the tubular portion, and having springarxnsprovided with inclined ends to slip over the headed stud and inwardly-extending points tov catch behind the head, substantially as described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses.
ALBERT RAMMOSER.
Witnesses B. ROI, FRIEDRICH ScHwINsoN.
