To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that 1, WILLIAM L. Horne, a citizen of the United States, residing at Manhattan, in the county ofi Riley and State of Kansas, have invented a new and useful Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.

My invention consists of a game adapted to out-of-door use or as a parlor-game, and includes as the principal implement a throwing-disk of peculiar construction, which is tobe impaled in various positions on a suitable catching-spear.

The accompanying drawings illustrate the implements and the arrangement of the playing-field.

Figure 1 represents a plan of the throwingof the same. Fig. 3 represents the catchingspear. Fig. 4 is a diagram of the playingfield, and Fig. 5 is a station-pin.

The throwing-disk consists of a number of concentric hoops of various diameters fastened together by eross-arms,the hoops all being in a single plane, making annular openings of various radial distances fro m the common center. Each series of openings, having a different radial distance, is given a game series 3, &c. The disk may be constructed of woven wire, as shown in Fig. 2, the openings A catching-spear G, substantially as shown at Fig. 3, to be held in the players hand, and preferably having a guard g, is furnished to each player.

The playing-field is laid out with bases equidistant from each other and in some geometrical figure having a center. The bases are marked by stakes, which may be variously colored or numbered. Each space from base to base is divided equally into a number of stations marked by station-pins S S, with or without a ring at top. These stations lie, preferably, in a circle, which circumscribes the geometrical figure formed by the bases.

The method of playing is as follows: One

of the players selected to throw the disk takes his place in the center of thefield. The others stand in line outside of the field near one of the bases called the home base. The disk is now thrown to the players in turn, who catch it with their spears and take stations in the field according to the game-value of the openings in the disk in which their spears enter. Should anyone on entering the field catch the disk so as to be placed on a station occupied by another, he takes the place of that player, who is then considered out and must return to the starting-place to await his next turn. If, after a player is once in the field, his catch entitles him to occupy a station held by another player, the latter must go back to the nearest base passed by him which is not occupied. When on abase, a player cannot be put out, and any play which would advance one to such occupied base does not count. In this manner the game is continued, the-disk being caught by the players in, turn until some one completes the circuit and reaches the home base. is the winner. sufficient to carry the player to the home base.
