The side and end sills may be fastened together by a triangular brace A, Fig. 10, where the relations of these sills are clearly shown. The side sill extends far enough to support the lower part of the post G. The end cornices U are shaped at the ends to cover the corner-caps and the side cornices, as indicated in Fig. 1.
The car-body proper is supported upon six longitudinal sills, of which the side sills are shown at N, the intermediate sills at N, and. the center sills at N These sills are supported from longitudinal trussrods, which truss-rods themselves are supported upon the trussed body-bolsters R, as shown in Fl g. 8.
The truss-rods S pass through the end sills T and have nuts or suitable fastenings on the ends thereof to hold them in position. They then pass over the trussed bolsters, as shown, and then beneath the struts V, as clearly shown. These struts V are bolted or suitably fastened to the sills N N, as shown in Fig. I), the center sills N restin g directly on the bol' sters, as shown in Fig. 3. This trussed bolster has its lower part made of corrugated metal, as clearly shown in Figs. 6, 7, and 8, the corrugations extending from beyond the flatcenter part toward the sides. The center is preferablyprovided with an opening for the king-bolt and the center plate, as indicated. The vertical end flanges of the parts R are bolted or suitably attached to the top member \Vof the truss, which serves likewise as a support for the floor-planks of the car. The struts themselves may be braced by a transverse brace X, which starts from the center sill, Fig. 9, and is attached to the outside strut V and to the intermediate strut between its points of end attachment. The part of the trussed bolster over the center pl ateis preferably strengthened by two anglcirons Y, suitably fastened thereto. The floor itself is bolted upon the beams Z, which are fastened to the longitudinal sills, and which serve likewise as stitlfeners for these longitudinal sills. The construction of the longitudinal sills may be readily somewhat varied, so as to employ angle-iron instead of channelbars, as Shown.
I have not shown the detail of the method of fastening of all the parts together, which may be by riveting or bolti n g, or in any suitable manner.
\Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A metallic car, a metallic cornice intermediate between the sides and the root and attached to both, and corrugated to [it the corrugations of the side and the roof, substantially as described.
2. The metallic cornice C, herein described, corrugated to fit the corrugationsof the side, and provided with an external lip D, substantially as and f or the purposes described.
3. The combination of the side posts G with a longitudinal side sill projecting outward and serving as a base for said side posts, substantially as described.

The truss-rod struts V, made of pressed steel, attached to the sills and braced by piece X, extending in a downwardly direction upon the side of the car inward and attached to the side sill, the intermediate sill, and the center sill, thereby preventing the failure of the sills under a heavy load and acting as a lateral brace as well as a strut on the side sills, substantially as described.
5. The lateral brace X, of pressed steel, in combination with three longitudinal sills, to each of which it is attached, and the trussrod struts V, for supportingthesills,sul;)stantially as described.
6. The combination of the center plate with the stiffening {tl'lglG-il'OUS Y, substantially as described.
'7. The pressed-steel body-bolster R, longitudinally corrugated intermediate the side and center sills, substantially as described.
8. The combination of the corrugated pressed-steel body-bolster R with the top m cmber \V, forming a complete truss, substantially as described.
9. The combination, with the sills N N of longitudinal wooden stringers (11, serving as still'eners therefor and for the attachment of the flooring, substantially as described.

11. The combination of the interlocking corner-posts G .l" with the corrugated sides and ends fitting the same, substantially as described.

14. The hollow post G, provided with a wood filler attached thereto, in combination with the beam J,nailed to the liningof the post (i, substantially as described.

16. The combination of a side post G, a carling K, fitting the same, and likewise fitting the corrugations ot the corrugated roof, substantially as described.
