STORE-SERVICE APPARATUS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 406,942, dated July 16, 1889.
Application filed March 29, 1389.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NELSON NEWMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Springfield, in the county of Sangamon and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Store-Service Apparatus; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in that class of cash-carrying apparatus in which an endless cord or cable is'employed to carry the cash receptacles or pouches and it consists in the peculiarconstruction and arrangement of devices, that will be more fully set forth hereinafter, and particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a diagrammatic view of an endless cord or cable cashcarrier provided with my improved pouches. 2 is a detail top plan view of my pouch, showing the same closed. Fig. 3 is a similar "iew of the same, showing it open. Fig. l is a vertical transverse sectional view of the same.
The cord or endless cable a of the cashcarrier shrinks and tightens when the weather is damp, and lengthens and becomes too slack when the weather is clear.
The object of my invention is to provide an elastic pouch or cash-receiver adapted to be attached to the cord or cable, and to compensate for the expansion and contraction of the latter, so that the said cord or cable will be at all times stretched to the requisite degree of tension over its guide-pulleys b.

which pieces are attached to the ends of sections of the cord or cable a, as shown, so that the tension of the cord or cable will stretch the pouch and keep its mouth Ill closed.
Loops I) of suitable size to admit the insertion of the fingers of the salesman and cashier are attached to the pouch on opposite sides of its mouth, so that the pouch may be distended laterally and its mouth opened to permit money to be placed in or removed from the pouch. \Vhen the cord or cable contracts, the pouch becomes more tightly stretched, and when the cord or cable expands the pouch relaxes and contracts, and thereby serves to take up the slack in thecord or cable.
It will be understood that two or more pouches may be attached to the cord or cable, according to the length of the latter.
Having thus described my invention, I claim-- 1. The combii'iatiomin store-service appa- 7o ratus, with an endless traveling cable and suitable supporting-pulleys therefor, of an elastic carrier or pouch interposed between the sections of the cable and forming a continuation thereof, the elasticity of the pouch serving to compensate for the variations in the length of the cable due to atmospheric changes, substantially as described.
2. In storeservice apparatus, the combination, with an endless traveling cable and suitable supporting-p11lleys therefor, of an elastic pouch or carrier interposed between the sections of the cable and forming a continuation thereof, said pouch or carrier having the mouth I the finger-loops on opposite sides of the mouth to distend and open the same, and the end pieces (1, the latter being attached to the ends of the said cable, substantiallyas described.
