HOLDER FORV ESS ELS.
Patented June 4, 1889.

WITNESSES: W W (dam ATTORNEY N. PEYERS. Phulmlilhognphfl, Washington. 01:.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN P. EUSTIS, OF NEYV YORK, N. Y.
HOLDER FOR VESSELS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 404,694, dated June 4, 1889. Application filed March 6, 1889. Serial No. 302,065. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN P. EUSTIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Holders for Vessels, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a holder for vessels, and by means of this invention a simple and economical holder is obtained, as set forth in the following specification and claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of a holder for vessels. Fig. 2 is a section along line a: m, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a section of a holder for vessels along line y y, Fig. 4. Fig. 4 is a section along line .2 ,2, Fig. 8.
Similar letters indicate corresponding part-s.
The letter l-I indicates a vessel, crock, or pot. The lower part of the vessel is steadied by a catch, consisting of a hook L, engaging a suitable recess M.
The handle E may be continued in one piece with the catch or connected with the catch by a strip.
The clamp B may be made in the form of a split ring, to allow it to expand sufficiently to pass over and grasp the vessel. By connecting the clamp B to the handle by means of a hinge c the clamp is free to move to and fro. The spring ring-clamp may be made of any suitable form and of any material that will permit it to expand and contracton the vessel.
By having the receiver Q provided with a suitable support N the front of the vessel II can be suitably supported, and by having the receiver or its cover 0 suitably recessed or slotted, as at P, the handle E will be accommodated, so that the vessel H will sit evenly in the receiver Q. The vessel H may also have a cover D.
The front of the clamp 13 is provided with arms or lugs R, which will rest on the support N.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A vessel-holder consisting of an expansible and contract-ible spring-clamp, a handle, and a hooked catch connected with the handle, for steadying the bottom of the vessel, said clamp and handle joined by a hinge which permits the clamp to move to and fro, substantially as described.
2. A vessel-holder consisting of the catch for steadying the bottom of the vessel, the handle connected with the catch, and the expansible spring-clamp connected with the handle for encircling the top part of the .vessel, substantially as described.
3. A vessel-holder consisting of a catch for steadying the bottom of the vessel, the handle connected with the catch, and the ring-clamp I connected with the handle for encircling the top part of the vessel, said ring-clamp being provided with supporting-lugs R, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JOHN P. EUSTIS. Witnesses:
