UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALONZO T. BOON, OF GALESBURG, LLINOIS.
IMPROVED KNIFE SHARPENER AND SCOURER.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 39,877, dated September 15, 1863.'
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it. known that I, ALONZO T. BOON, of Galesburg, Knox county, and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Machine for Sharpening and Securing Knives and Forks, called a knife-scourer and Sharpener, and I do declare that the following is a full, clear, and explicit description Of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a perspective View, and Fig. 2 is a side View.
This invention consists in elastic scouringnollers B B, Which are made of india-rubloer or other elastic substance combined With elnery or other polishing substances, which are driven by the cog Wheels D D and set in motion by the crank H; also, the attachment of sharpen; ingbars K K to frame A A by means of a link, E, and screw F, Which also holds the top ot the frame A A and the screw I, which attaches the whole machine to the table or other solid substance.
The frame, shafts, link, screws, cog-Wheels, and crank may be made of Wood, iron, or other hard substance.
The sharpening bars should -he made of steel. The rollers should be made of caoutchouc or india rubber, or other elastic substances, combined with emcry or other polishin g substances.
What I claim as my invention is- The elastic rollers B B, combinedwith elnery or other scouring substances, the concave Wheel O, the link E, and the attachment 0f sharpening-bars K K to frame A A, in combination with frame A A, cog-Wheel D D, crank H, and screw I, as represented in the drawings, and as specified.
