To all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I, JOSEF KUBELKA, manufacturer of dolls and busts in Vienna, Austrial'lungary, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in the Heads of Dolls or other Figures, (certain features of the same having been patented to me in Austria-Hungary on the 6th day of October, 1884, Nos. 29,968 and 45,487; in Germany on the 1st day of October, 1884, No. 31,189, and in France on the 28th day of October, 1884,No.165,06i,) of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to dolls heads, busts, or other models made of porcelain, earthenware, or other hard material; and it has for its object the forming of the same in such manner that hair may be applied thereto in close imitation of the natural hair of the head, the eyebrows, whiskers, 850; By my invention heads or busts may be of earthenware or other hard material; and to better illustrate the invention I have shown in the drawing in vertical section a dolls head, A. Those portions thereof which are afterward to be ornamented with hair 1 are recessed, as at C, during the process of molding or shapingthe heads, which are then painted, burned, and finished in any usual or approved manner. These recesses are then filled with a soft plastic material, D- such as wax-into which the hail-B is picked in the usual or in any approved manner.
This invention is applicable to heads or busts of all sizes, and is particularly desirable for models for hair-dressers Windows and the like.
Having thus described my inyentiomwhat I claim is- 1. As a new article of manufacture, a head or bust of hard material, wherein are formed recesses at those places which are intended to be ornamented with hair, substantially as described.
2. A head or bust of hard material provided with a recess, C, in combination with a plastic material filling the said recess, and hair secured in the said plastic material, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I afifix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOSEF KUBELKA.
