My invention relates to 1.:eehanism and apparatus t'or vaporizing and spraying hydrocarbon oils to be used as fuel in metallurgieal operath'ms, and partienlarly for use in a furnaee for welding pipe.

The operatirm of this device is as Follows: Oil and steam are respectively admitted to chambers 17 and d and the. valve (1 set to allow the desired amount of oil to escape through the nipples d", at the. lips ol' which it is impacted upon. by the blasts of steam passing through the nipples d, which also draws in snllioient air through the air-ports (1 to make the proper mixture in the mixing chamber or passages formed by the easting I). The oil isheal ed to the proper temperature by the steam-pipe in the drum bet'ore it is fed to the injector, and by taking theoil from the lower part of the drum there is no danger of residual oil remaining in thedrum to clogup the machine.

The combination of a casting having an annular steam-chamber n-ovided with nipples, a casting having an oil-chamber, a noz zle having nipples arranged at right angles to the nipples on the steanrchamber and comn'nmieating with the oil-chamber, a casting covering said nipples, and a casting secured to the nozzle and having two or more parti tions, which form mixing-ehambers for each set of steam and oil nipples.
