PORTABLE RAMP This invention relates to scales, and more particularly to a board device for a weighing scale.
It is therefore the primary purpose of this invention to provide a board device which when placed upon a scale, will enable a wheel chair patient to use the scale, particularly those wheel chair patients who are unable to stand.
Another object of this invention is to provide a board device of the type described, which will have a balance weight on the inside of the main body and the device will have rail means on the upper surface so as to prevent the wheel chair from rolling off of the device.
A further object of this invention is to provide a board device of the type described, which will have a hinged ramp so as to enable the wheel chair to ascend onto the device, the ramp also enabling the wheel chair to descend.
Other objects of the present invention are to provide a board device for weighing scales which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation.
These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specification and the accompanying drawing wherein:
FIG. 1 is a bottom plan view of the present invention; and
FIG. 2 is a top plan view of FIG. 1.
According to this invention, a board device is shown to include an aluminum main body 11 to which prevents the wheel chair from rolling off the top surface 17 accidentally.
In use, device 10 is placed on top of the scale with the under side 13 down on the scale and the patient and wheel chair may ascend the ramp 14 which is secured by ends 15 to one end of the main body 1 l of device 10.
When device 10 is not in use, it may be easily lifted and stored away in any convenient closet or other area.
What I now claim is:
l. A board device for enabling wheel chair patients to weigh themselves upon a scale, comprising, an aluminum main body providing platform means for the wheel chair, a balance weight carried by said main body providing balance means to said main body, rail means carried by said main body providing preventive means for the wheel chair from accidentally rolling off of the top side of said main body of said device, a ramp carried by said device providing easy ascending and descending of wheel chair.
2. The combination according to claim 1, wherein said main body has said balance weight of U-shaped configuration, secured fixedly to the underside surface of said main body, said balance weight enabling said device to be stable when said device is placed upon a weighing scale, and said 'railedge of said device extends around the peripheral edgeof the top side of said main body of said device, said rail edge preventing said wheel chair from accidentally rolling off of said surface by providing stop means for the wheels of said wheel chair.
3. The combination according to claim 2, wherein said ramp of said device is secured to one end of said device by hinge means, said hinge means extending from one side of said device to the other, said ramp being pivotable upon said hinge and falling slope surface means for said wheel chair to ascend and decend from said device.
Claims (3)
1. A BOARD DEVICE FOR ENABLING WHEEL CHAIR PATIENTS TO WEIGH THEMSELVES UPON A SCALE, COMPRISING, AN ALUMINUM MAIN BODY PROVIDING PLATFORM MEANS FOR THE WHEEL CHAIR, A BALANCE WEIGHT CARRIED BY SAID MAIN BODY PROVIDING BALANCE MEANS TO SAID MAIN BODY, RAIL MEANS CARRIED BY SAID MAIN BODY PROVIDING PREVENTIVE MEANS FOR THE WHEEL CHAIR FROM ACCIDENTALLY ROLLING OFF OF THE TOP SIDE OF SAID MAIN BODY OF SAID DEVICE, A
2. The combination according to claim 1, wherein said main body has said balance weight of U-shaped configuration, secured fixedly to the underside surface of said main body, said balance weight enabling said device to be stable when said device is placed upon a weighing scale, and said rail edge of said device extends around the peripheral edge of the top side of said main body of said device, said rail edge preventing said wheel chair from accidentally rolling off of said surface by providing stop means for the wheels of said wheel chair.
3. The combination according to claim 2, wherein said ramp of said device is secured to one end of said device by hinge meAns, said hinge means extending from one side of said device to the other, said ramp being pivotable upon said hinge and falling slope surface means for said wheel chair to ascend and decend from said device.
