SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 392,589, dated November 13, 1888.

Be it known that we, WILLIAM E. COUNTER and LEE 0. MILLER, citizens of the United States, residing at Three Rivers, in the county of St. Joseph and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Screw-Holders for lvatchBepairing, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to new and useful inr provements in the screw-holders for watch repairing, and the object of the invention is to form a device for the use of watch-repairers which may be conveniently used on the bench, whereby the movementscrews taken out in taking the watch apart to clean or repair will not become lost or mixed.

It is well known that in repairing watches all careful workmen endeavor to put the screws back in the same screw-hole from which they are taken out, and where the screws are placed in a common receptacle this is practically impossible. To this end our device is designed to keep the screws apart and set them in such places that their identity is always preserved, and they are kept from becoming mixed or lost.

Our invention consists in making the screwholder reversible,whereby the device may be used for watches of different designs, one side preferably being provided with the typical design of American watches and the other side with the typical design of foreign watches, all as more fully hereinafter described.

In the drawings which accompany this speci' ilcation, Figure l is a perspective view of our improved screw-holder. Fig. 2 is a plan of the reverse side thereof; and Fig. 3 is a vertical central cross-section.

A represents a plate preferably of circular shape and provided with the raised edge B.

O are outlines or identification-marks of the parts of the works of the watch-movement as it appears on the reverse side, and D are holes placed in such relation to the outlines as to identify the position of the screws in each particular part of the work.

such size as to readily allow the threaded portion of the screw to be inserted therein and hold it suspended by its head.

E are legs supporting the plate A, and A is a similar plate to the plate A and similarly arranged, except that it is preferably marked with the design of a different w:atch-inovement, so that the device may be reversed to be used either side.

In practice we prefer" to provide one of the plates with the typical design of the American watch-movements, and the other plate with the typical design of the foreign movements; but, if desired, a multiplicity of such tables may be connected together into one device embracing different designs of watch-movements; or but one plate alone with suitable legs may be used where no necessity exists for the use of more than one design.

The device may be cheaply manufactured of sheet metal and its use will be found of value in watch-repairing, saving time and being conducive to good repairing.

What we claim as our invention is- 1. As an improved article of manufacture, a reversible screwholding device consisting of two plates, one upon each side of the de vice and each provided with holes 1) and indication marks or designs of watch movements, those on one plate representing different movements from those on the other plate, substantially as described.

2. As a new article of manufacture, the herein-described sheet-metal screw-holding deviee,consisting of the plates A A, provided with raised edges, the legs E, connecting them reversely together, the holes D in the plates, and the identification marks or designs of different watch-movements upon the plates A A, substantially as described.
