CLAUS DUEOKER, OF NEW HOLSTEIN, WISCONSIN.
CHURN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 391,520, dated October 23, 1888.
Application filed April 21, 1888. Serial No. 271.373. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GLAUS DUECKER, of New Holstein, in the county of Calumet and State of WVisconsin, have invented a new and Improved Churn, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a sectional elevation of a barrelchurn having my new dasher placed therein. Fig. 2 is an opposite section of the same, showing the diagonal arrangement of this dasher. Fig. 3 is an edge View of the dasher, showing the hinged section; and Fig. 4 is a plan view of the dasher.
The invention will first be described in connection with the drawings, and then pointed out in the claim.
A represents the body of the churn arranged to be revolved on trunnions a a, journaled in standards B B; and B represents my new dasher placed diagonally in and across the churn, as shown clearly in Fig. 2. The
dasher is composed of the main section 0, upper short section, D, attached to the section 0 by hinge b, and the cross pins or rods E E, fitted in the said sections, as shown clearly in the drawings.
The hinged section D is to enablethe dasher to be placed in and removed from the coveropening F at one end of the churn, and to enable it to be fastened under the permanent flange G.
In use the hookfis detached from the eye f and the section D tipped to one side. The dasher is placed in the churn with the bottom plate, h, to one side. The dasher is then tipped against the opposite side of the churn and the section D turned in a straight line with the sectionB, so its plate h comes beneath the flange G. The hookfis then engaged with the eyef, so that in this manner the dasher is held firmly in place.
By placing the dasher in diagonal position the agitation of the cream is very effective, causing it to be churned to butter in a corn paratively short time.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new,and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The churn herein shown and described, composed of the rotary body A, hung upon trunnions, and the dasher G, placed diagonally across the body-and formed of the section 0, rods E, and section 1), hinged to the upper end of the section 0 and adapted to be locked in line therewith, substantially as described.
