have invented a new and useful Method ofI Preservingv Postage or Letter and other:
Stamps, 85e., from Cohesion 5 and 'I do hereby declare the following to be a full and exact description thereof', reference being' had to the accompanying drawings, and to thc letters of reference marked thereon, making .-a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a surface view of a section-of stamps and'tinfoil, or other prepared metallic substance, one-half the size of the section of the stamps, the blue surface efe d exhibiting tin-foil or other metal, &c. Fig; 2 is a. representation of the foldingof a package of stamps,
the blue line exhibiting the tin-foil and the black line the stamps.
I take a sheetor section of postage or other stamps, Fig'. 1, al b e d, and a piece of tin or any metallic sheet smoothed with oil, or its l equivalent, to prevent adhesion, one-half the l gummed surface of the stamps, folding them'so as to have the metalli@ substance between the gummed surface onlyfFig. 2. as exhibited by the blue lille, thus preventing the stamps from all injurious adhesion, &c. 4
Knowing that tin-foil has been used for packing and securing,` drugs, groceries, Sie., from (la-mpness, and the injurious action of the atmosphere, &c.,-I do not claim to secure stamps from dampness or atmospheric action on them; but Whatlclaim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- To preserve postagelstamps, Sac., after being damp or Wet, from adhering;` and drying together, orto surfaces injuring them or rendering,` them useless, as specified and set forth.
