JOHN HARRIGAN, OF BROOKLYN, NE? YORK.
DRAG-$AVV.
QPEC'IFIC'ATION forming part of Letters Application filed May 21. 1888. Serial No. 274,536.
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, JOHN HARRIGAN, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Drag-Saw, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention is to provide a saw designed for cutting off the upper ends of driven piles and for use in various other situations; and the invention consists, principally, in combining with asaw-bladeayoke for holding the blade pivoted to a main support to be fastened to the pile or other object to be sawed.
The invention also consists of the special construction of the saw, and of the combination, arrangement, and combination of parts, all as hereinafter described.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forining a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a sectional elevation showing my saw applied to a pile in position for use. Fig. 2 is a plan view, and Fig. 3 isa sectional View taken on the line m a: of Fig. 2.
A represents the blade of the saw, made in rectangular form with sawteeth a at one end. The opposite end of the blade is provided with a handle, B, inclined somewhat upward, as shown clearly in Fig. 1. The side edges of the saw-blade are straight and parallel to adapt the blade to move quite freely in the clamps c c of the yoke 43, which holds the saw while in use. The yoke (3 is connected to the support D by a pivot, (Z, which permits the saw and yoke to have a back-and-forth action, as indicated in full and dotted lines in Fig. 2, for

cutting the pile E or other object. The support D in this instance is pointed at one end and screw-threaded for insertion into the pile or other object, as shown clearly in Fig. 1.
the sawblade, and by reversing the saw-blade from the position shown in Fig. l the handle may be made to incline downwardly. This ready reversal will be of great utility in certain kinds of work.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The combination, with a support, and a yoke pivoted on the support at right angles thereto, and having parallel ways, of a saw blade having parallel sides sliding in said ways, teeth at its front edge, and a handle at its rear end, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination, with a screw, and a yoke pivoted to one side thereof and having ways at opposite sides of its outer face, of a saw-blade having parallel sides slidingin said Ways, a toothed front edge, and aliandle projecting from its rear end, substantially as set forth.
3. The combination, with a support and a yoke pivoted thereto, of a saw-blade sliding longitudinally on the yoke and having its front edge toothed, and a longitudinally-extending handle secured to the rear end of the blade at an inclination to the face thereoflsubstantially as set forth.
' JOHN HARRIGAN.
