STICK GAME SET BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to apparatus and playing pieces for a participation game by two or more children.
It is desirable in todays education process for children that they be confronted with games that stimulate their minds, offer them a challenge, educate them in manual dexterity, and offer them some competition involving the use of their minds against the minds of others. The aim of the present invention is to afford a game which fulfills these tasks.
The game of the present invention is similar to participation type games such as a go game and shogi game.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION 'holding the attention of the children.
A further object of this invention is to provide a game having cups and playing pieces which challenge the childs manual dexterity as well as his mind.
Still another object of this invention is to provide a game in accordance with the preceding objects and which may be constructed of various materials.
A still further object of this invention is to provide a game which will confirm to conventional forms of manufacture, be of simple construction and interesting to use so as to provide apparatus that will be economically feasible, endurable, and capable of holding the attention of children.
These and other objects and aspects of the invention will be more clearly understood from the following description of the embodiments of the invention shown, by way of examples only, in the accompanying drawings in which like reference numerals denote corre sponding parts throughout the several views.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the sticks having indicia imprinted on their exposed ends;
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the cups mounted on a planar base;
FIG. 2b is a perspective view of the cups embedded in a solid body;
FIG. is a perspective view of another form of the invention in which a single cup has partitions to form the required compartments;
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the sticks inserted in base-mounted cups, illustrating the playing of the game; and
FIG. 4 is a view of three cups forming a support for an ash tray, thus illustrating the utility of the invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Reference is now made to the drawings, wherein there is shown apparatus and playing pieces useful in a game according to the present invention. FIG. 1 illustrates the playing pieces, that is, two elongated cylindrical-shaped stick members 1. The crosssectional area of one end. designated by the numeral 2, of each of the stick members 1 has an indicia 3 that is, a number, letter, sign, or the like, imprinted thereon to indicate a visible marking which relates to the playing movements instigated by two or more players during the performance of the game.
FIG. 2a illustrates three cups or pots 4 mounted on a planar base 5. Another mounting arrangement is shown in FIG. 2b wherein the three cups 4 are embedded in a solid block member 6. In lieu of providing a plurality of cups mounted on a common base, an individual cup 4 may be structurally arranged as illustrated in FIG. 20, to have cross-shaped partition walls 7 mounted therein to form the necessary plurality of compartments.
As can be seen in FIG. 3, a plurality of sticks 1 have been selectively distributed to the base-mounted cups 4 of the FIG. 2a embodiments. The sticks 1 are inserted with their indicia ends facing downwardly in the cups 4 whereby the indicia is hidden from view as will be more fully understood hereinafter.
The cups 4 can be fixedly jointed to a tray, ash tray, table lamp or other ornamental-type device. For example, as illustrated in FIG. 4, an ash tray 8 is supported by three cups 4 equally spaced and arranged on the lip 9 of the ash tray 8.
The operation of the game may be as follows:
Preferably, two or more players sitting face to face with each other, begin the game by deciding which player makes the first move. For example, the sticks may be numbered respectively 1 to 15, and thereby, each player could draw one stick and the one with the highest number could begin the game. The sticks can be mixed thoroughly by rolling within the palms of the hands and randomly distributed to a plurality of cups with the indicia-ends of the sticks positioned in hidden positions within the interior of the cups. The sticks could be removed in a selective pattern from the cups. Each of the players would be required to add the total of the indicia numbers on their respective sticks. The player with the highest number would be the winner. It is obvious various other arrangements of playing the game could be utilized. For example, the game could easily have an element of chance by the gain-oneturn or lose-one-turn by assignment of certain numbers to represent such features.
The invention has been described in detail with particular reference to preferred embodiments thereof, but it will be understood that variations and modifications can be effected within the spirit and scope of the invention.
What is claimed is:
l. A game comprising a plurality of elongated cylindrical-shaped stick members that have indicia imprinted on the cross-sectional area of one end portion,
rior of said cup means during the playing of the game. l= l

Claims (1)

1. A game comprising a plurality of elongated cylindrical-shaped stick members that have indicia imprinted on the cross-sectional area of one end portion, and hollow cylindrical-shaped cup means having an open top and a closed bottom, said cup means having elongated planar members mounted therein to structurally divide said cup means into a plurality of compartments, each of said compartments adapted to receive a selective number of said stick members, each of said stick members being selectively distributed to said cup means and being inserted therein with said indicia end being placed in a hidden position within the interior of said cup means during the playing of the game.
