It is designed to hold an individual players cards up to and including a considerable number of cards. The holder is designed to be big enough to hold any number of cards, but does not require a very large table space. The poker chip holder to hold poker chips during a game in which poker chips are required is removable, however, it is well-known that only a certain part of many card games require the use of poker chips.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a unique service for the card playing individual. Utilizing this device enables the player to enjoy a snack, smoke a cigarette, leave the card table for a few minutes, and
. simply experience a greater freedom of movement while playing cards. This simply designed card holder also allows individuals, suffering from rheumatic or arthritic hands to play cards more comfortably.
Another object of the invention is to provide an injection molded plastic card and poker chip holder that has a slanted groove extending along the medial por tion of the base of the card holder, that will and can accommodate a four card thickness.
A further object of the invention is to provide felt inside of the slanted groove to afford a very slight grip on the cards and the felt also provides a soft cushion for the cards.
With the above and other objects and advantages in view that may appear to one skilled in the art, it will be clearly understood that the invention will consist of the special arrangement of parts as will be later described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the combined card and poker chip holder, embodying the invention;
FIG. 2 is an exploded cross section of the card and poker chip holder, showing the details of the mounting of the poker chip holder; and
FIG. 3 is a cross section of the assembled card and poker chip holder.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring to FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 the card holder is shown to comprise a base 11 which is of a size that would not require too much space on any playing surface which is being used.
The base 11 has an integral outwardly and downwardly curved front supporting leg 12 which extends the entire longitudinal length of the base 11.
In opposed relation to the front supporting leg 12 the base 11 has an integral outwardly and downwardly inclined rear supporting leg 13 which also extends the entire longitudinal length of the base 11.
The base 11 also includes an upwardly and outwardly inclined lip portion 14 which extends from the base 11 at that portion where the upper longitudinal edge of the rear supporting leg 13 joins with and is integral with the base 11 and also extends longitudinally of the base 11.
Positioned in the base 11 at the approximate medial portion of the upper surface thereof and extending longitudinally thereof is a slot 15 which is formed by a depending integral approximately u-shaped slot forming portion 16 which also extends longitudinally of base 11. The u-shaped portion 16 is of a size that it does not depend below the base 11 to extend beyond the lower longitudinally supporting edges of the front supporting leg 12 and the rear supporting leg 13.
The interior surface of the slot 15 is lined with felt 17 to provide a soft cushion and gripping action on a simulated playing card C, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3.
To increase the versatility of the combined card and poker chip holder 10, an attachment 18 for storing poker chips is provided. This attachment I8 is also injection moulded and comprises a base 19 and projecting downwardly from the bottom surface of the base 19 are a pair of depending spaced projections 20 and 21 (FIGS. 2 and 3) which are spaced apart from each other a distance to removably receive the lip portion 14 of the base 11 (FIG. 2) and the projections 20 and 21 extend the longitudinal length of the base 19 of the attachment 18.
Extended upwardly from the base 19 of the attachment 18 are a plurality of upwardly extending semicurved poker chip holders 22, 23 and 24 that, as shown, are integral with the base 19 and each other, as clearly shown in FIG. 1.
The poke chip attachment 18, as shown, can accommodate three piles of poker chips, but more of the poker chip holders may be used as desired.
The combined card and poker chip holder can add to the hours of pleasure for the vast number of people who spend their leisure time playing cards. It will be a big convenience to the hostess of small, as well as large parties, so she can also enjoy herself more. People with only one hand can play cards by using the combined card and poker chip holder and thus add materially to one of Americas favorite pastimes.
While the combined card and poker chip holder has been shown and described in detail, it is to be understood changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims which follow:
Having thus described the invention what is claimed 1. A combined card and poker chip holder comprising, in combination:
a card holder including a base, having a longitudinal extent, a longitudinally extending integral curved front supporting leg, a longitudinally extending integral outwardly and downwardly inclined rear supporting leg, a longitudinally extending upwardly and outwardly inclined lip portion disposed at the rear of the base, a longitudinally .extending slot in said base disposed approximately medially of said front and rear legs; and a poker chip attachment for storing poker chips including a base, a pair of spaced depending projections to removably receive the lip portion on the card holder and a plurality of semi-circular upwardly extending poker chip holders that are integral with the poker chip attachment base and with each other.
2. The card holder as in claim 1 wherein a depending integral approximately u-shaped portion forms the slot in said base portion.
3. The card holder as in claim 1 wherein the slot in said base portion is lined with felt to provide a gripping action on any playing card positioned in said slot.
4. The combination as in claim 1 wherein said card holder and said poker chip attachment are injection molded.
