5 Claims, 4 Drawing Figures DEVICE FOR SUPPORTING A SPINDLE OF AN OPEN-END SPINNING APPARATUS SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to an improved device for supporting a spindle of an open-end spinning apparatus wherein axial vibration of the spindle can be effectively absorbed.
.In the known supporting device which is capable of absorbing the axial vibration of the spindle, for example in the supporting device disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 3,711,168, a bushing member is secured to the machine frame and surrounds the bearing assembly in such a manner that a radial clearance is provided between the bushing member and the bearing, and a resiliently yieldable member is interposed between the bushing and the surface of the assembly. However, in this supporting device, as the resiliently yieldable member is secured to at least a portion of the bushing member and to only a portion of the surface of the bearing assembly, if this device is utilized to support a spindle of an open-end spinning apparatus, very serious problems may arise when rotation of the spinning rotor must be stopped because the spindle of the rotor is forced to contact a brake device and in doing so, inclination of the spindle is inevitable. Consequently, a part of the peripheral surface of the spinning rotor is forced to contact an inner surface of a labyrinth ring which is mounted on a supporting bracket so as to seal the inside space of the spinning rotor from the atmosphere. Because of such contact of a part of the peripheral surface of the spinning rotor with the labyrinth ring, the spinning rotor is seriously damaged. To prevent the entrance of lint into the spinning rotor and to attain uniform air flow into the spinning rotor, the clearance between the peripheral surface of the spinning rotor and the labyrinth ring must be small and these two parts must be held precisely in a coaxial relation to each other. Consequently, the above-mentioned damage to the spinning rotor should be absolutely avoided.
According to our experience, in a supporting device like that of US. Pat. No. 3,711,168, as the bracket is provided with an axial slit portion and the slit portion is fastened by a bolt after being mounted on the spindle, there is a possibility of deforming the bracket inwardly so that the cylindrical space between the bushing member and the spindle may be varied or eliminated and, as a result, the desirable effects of the resiliently yieldable member may be seriously reduced.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide an improved device for supporting a spindle of the open-end spinning apparatus whereby the abovementioned disadvantages of the conventional device can be eliminated.
In the supporting device according to the present invention, a bushing member is mounted on amachine frame and a spindle of a spinning rotor is turnably supported by a bearing which is coaxially disposed within a cylindrical inner wall of the bushing member by way of a pair of resiliently yieldable members which are separately inserted into a ring-shaped space between the cylindrical inner wall of the bushing member and the peripheral surface of the bearing so as to cover both axial end portions of the bearing. The above-mentioned resiliently yieldable members comprise a resiliently yieldable piece held by an inner protection ring and an outer protection ring, respectively. Further, to absolutely prevent contact of the sealing member with the peripheral surface of the spinning rotor, the disposition and size of these resiliently yieldable members are of particular importance.
Further features and advantages of the present invention will be hereinafter illustrated in detail with reference to the embodiments shown in the accompanying drawings.
BRIEF EXPLANATION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a sectional front view of a device for mounting a spindle of an open-end spinning apparatus, according to the present invention;
FIG. 2 is an enlarged sectional view of a resiliently yieldable member utilized in the embodiment shown in FIG. 1;
FIGS. 3 and 4 are enlarged sectional views of modified yieldable members, according to the present invention.
DETAILED EXPLANATION OF THE INVENTION Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2 wherein a preferable embodiment according to the present invention is shown, a bearing 1 is coaxially disposed within an inner cylindrical wall of a bushing member 2 and a pair of resiliently yieldable members 3a, 3b are disposed in a ringshaped space formed between the inner cylindrical wall of the bushing member 2 and the peripheral surface of the bearing 1. A spindle shaft 11 is rotatably supported by the bearing 1 and a spinning rotor 4 is coaxially secured to an end of the spindle shaft 11. A sealing member 5 is held by an outwardly extended portion 22-of the bushing member 2 in such a condition that a ringshaped clearance 5, between the peripheral surface of the spinning rotor 4 and an inner cylindrical wall of the sealing member 5 is provided. In this embodiment, the spindle shaft 11 is driven by a driving belt 6 of a driving system. A brake member 7 is disposed adjacent to the opposite side of the spindle shaft 11 from the side contacted by the belt 6 as shown in FIG. 1. The bushing member 2 is provided with a cut-out slit portion 23 where a pair of projections 24 are formed facing each other. (In FIG. 1, only one of the projections 24 is shown). Each projection 24 is provided with an aperture 21 so that with a fastening bolt and nut, the projections 24 can be brought into tight contact with each other to enable the bushing member 2 to securely hold the bearing 1.
Each resiliently yieldable member 3a, 3b comprises a resiliently yieldable piece 33 held by an inner protection ring 31 and an outer protection ring 32, as shown in FIG. 2. These rings 31, 32 are provided with U- and L-shaped cross sections, respectively. The outside diameter of the peripheral surface of an edge portion of the inner protection ring 31 is designed in such a manner-that the relation between the clearance S and a clearance S between the inner cylindrical wall of the bushing member 2 and the peripheral surface of the ble deformation of the bushing member 2 when the bearing 1 is tightly held in the bushing member 2.
When the above-mentioned supporting device is assembled, the outer protection rings 32 are first mounted on the bearing 1 in free condition. Next, the inner protection rings 31 holding a resiliently yieldable piece 33 are rigidly mounted on the bearing 1 at the respective positions shown in FIG. 2 by pressure and, then, the outer protection rings 32 are positioned at their predetermined positions shown in FIG. 1. After this assembling operation, the above-mentioned bearing 1 holding the resiliently yieldable members 30, 3b is inserted within the cylindrical inner wall of the bushing member 2, and thereafter the projections 24 are fastened by the fastening member. Then, appropriate elements such as a spinning rotor 4 and sealing member 5 are assembled. When the supporting device is assembled as mentioned above, the ring shaped clearance S is formed in the condition defined by S (l /l 8,.
In the modified embodiment shown in FIG. 3, the outer end portion of the inner protection ring 31 is enveloped by the resiliently yieldable piece 33 so that direct contact of the inner wall of the bushing member 2 with the protection ring 31 at the time of braking the spindle rotation can be prevented. Further, the inner protection ring 31 is provided with an elongated inner cylindrical portion so that the resilient members and 3b can be stably mounted on the bearing 1.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 4, the diameter of the inwardly folded portion 322 is designed so that the clearance 5 is formed between the bearing 1 and the inner wall of the portion 322, and the relation S with 5, satisfies the following condition S (l /l )S,.
As mentioned above, in the supporting device according to the present invention, as the bearing 1, which supports the spindle shaft 11, is supported by the resiliently yieldable members 3a, 3b, a desirable supporting effect can be attained. When the rotating spindle shaft 11 is contacted by the brake member 7, the spindle shaft 11 is turned toward a direction A in FIG. 1 about the center C. However, the resiliently yieldable member 3a contacts the lower right (in FIG. 1) inner wall of the bushing member 2 while the resiliently yieldable member 312 contacts the upper left inner wall of the bushing member 2 and, consequently, the turning motion of the spindle shaft 11 about the center C is restricted. As the dimensional relationship between S, and S is designed so as to satisfy the relation S (l /l,)S,, any possible contact of the sealing member 5 with the peripheral surface of the spinning rotor 4 can be absolutely prevented. Further, in the present invention, as the outer protection rings 32 are provided with extended outer cylindrical portions 321 to prevent deformation of the bushing member 2 when the projections 24 are fastened by a fastening bolt and nut, it is very easy to assemble the sealing member 5 in coaxial condition with the spinning rotor 4.
