(No Model.)
T. HIBBERT.

No. 885,711. Patented July 10, 1888.
INVENTQl UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
THOMAS HIBBERT, OF COOHRAN, INDIANA.
WEATHER=STRI P.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 385,711, dated July 10, 1888.
Application filed June 6, 1887. Serial No.240A91.
T0 at whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS HIBBERT, of Cochran, in the county of Dearborn and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Improvement in \Veather-Strips, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in which-- Figure l is a view ofan open door with my weather-strip attached thereto; Fig. 2, a view of my weather-strip in position when the door is closed, and Fig. 3 the manner of suspending the Weatherstrip.
The object of my invention is to provide a simple and reliable device to be attached to the outside of a door for the purpose of excluding dust, rain, and snow.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, A represents an overhanging ledge, preferably made ofsheet metal, and permanently attached to the outside of a door at a suitable distance above the lower edge thereof, and provided with openings F.
B is a strip of sheet metal doubled on itself and provided with notches G, and suspended so as to have free movement on the wire D, passing through loops 0, which are fitted on the rod D and pass through the notches G and openings F, the ends of the loops being bent over on the ledge A, thereby locking the strip B to the said ledge. When attached to the (N0 model.)
E, by which it is raised and carried over the carpet-strip as the door closes.
What I claim as new is The improved weather-strip herein described and shown, comprising the overhanging ledge A, permanently attached to a door and pro vided with openings F, the curved metal strip B, having its upper edge doubled on itself and provided with the notches G, the rod D, passing through said upper doubled edge of the strip B, and the loops 0, fitted on the rod D, and passed through the notches G and openings F, and having their upper ends bent over on the ledge A, substantially as specified.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand, this 28th day of May, 1887, in the presence of witnesses.
THOMAS HIBBERT.
