UNITED STATES PATENTS 7/1917 Centolella 248/226 R 2 Claims, 3 Drawing Figures BUTCHERS TWINE DISPENSER BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention I.
This invention relates to a dispenser for twine and the like in which a ball of twine is enclosed and from which twine from the ball may be continuously removed.
2. Description of the Prior Art Prior structures of this type have been proposed for use with reels of wire as in US. Pat. No. 3,52l,834 and wherein the reel is supported in an enclosure. A dispenser for a ball of marline may be seen in US. Pat. No. 3,371,686 and US. Pat. No. 2,940,686 locates a skein or ball of knitting wool in a transparent bag having an apertured disc in the neck thereof.
This invention eliminates the problems found in the prior art devices and enables a ball of butchers twine to be positioned on a supporting base within a protective enclosure which is preferably transparent so that the supply of twine may be observed.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION A butchers twine dispenser consisting of a base having an annular upstanding flange thereon frictionally engages and supports a conical protective cover apertured at its uppermost end and provides an enclosure and support for a ball of butchers twine. The base is pivoted to a support arm which in turn has a clamp structure enabling the device to be attached to the leg of a butchers table or cutting block while being mov able relative thereto. Twine may be conveniently moved from the dispenser. The ball of twine in the dispenser is protected from contamination by meat scrapes, blood or other material.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the butchers twine dispenser,
FIG. 2 is a enlarged vertical section on line 22 of FIG. 1, and
FIG. 3 is a top plan view of the dispenser seen in FIG. 2.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT In the form of the invention chosen for illustration, the butchers twine dispenser consists of a base 10, preferably circular and having an upstanding annular flange ll thereabout in which the lower portion of a conical, transparent cover 12 is positioned. The base has a sideward extension 13 by which it is pivoted by a pin 14 to an arm 15 which in turn is provided with a circular clamp including a circular body 16 in which a V-shaped clamping member 17 is movably disposed.
The V-shaped clamping member 17 is loosely positioned on an inner end of a threaded shaft 18 and an actuating lever 19 is secured to the outer end of the shaft 18 so that by rotating the shaft 18 the V-shaped clamping member 17 will move transversely of the circular body 16.
The upper end of the conical, transparent cover 12 is apertured as at 20 so that a section of twine T from a ball of twine B located within the conical, transparent cover 12 may be pulled outwardly through the aperture 20.
By referring now to FIG. 1 of the drawings, it will be seen that when the butchers twine dispenser is affixed to the leg of a cutting table or cutting block the twine in the ball B will be protected from contamination and contact with meat scrapes, blood, and the like and at the same time be conveniently located for use by the butcher in tying meat cuts, such as will occur to those skilled in the art. It will be seen that the structure of the butchers twine dispenser disclosed herein is such that it may be formed of a relatively few inexpensively formed parts and that the conical transparent cover portion 12 of the device will frictionally engage and be retained by its engagement in the upstanding annular flange 11 on the base 10. At the same time the construction is such that the conical transparent cover 12 may be readily removed and the ball of twine be replaced when necessary. All of the parts of the butchers twine dispenser may be advantageously formed of high impact synthetic resin material which is relatively light in weight and may be easily assembled and maintained subsequently thereto.
Although but one embodiment of the present invention has been illustrated and described, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various changes and modifications may be made therein without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
1. A butchers twine dispenser comprising a base, a cover member frictionally engaged thereon and apertured for guiding twine therethrough, an extension on said base and a clamping device having an arm thereon, said extension movably secured to said arm said clamping device consisting of a circular body member, a V- shaped clamping member disposed therein longitudinally, a threaded shaft loosely engaged on said V- shaped clamping member and engaged in a threaded opening in said circular body member.
2. A butchers twine dispenser comprising a circular base having an upstanding vertically disposed flange thereabout, a circular conical cover member having a vertically disposed flange on its lower end frictionally engaged within said vertically disposed flange of said base and apertured for guiding twine therethrough, a horizontally disposed, flat apertured sideward extension on said base and a clamping device having a horizontally disposed flat apertured arm thereon, a pivot pin joining said extension and arm, said clamping device consisting of a body member defining a vertically disposed passage and a clamping member movably disposed therein and means for moving the same so as to restrict the area of the vertical passageway.

Claims (2)

1. A butcher''s twine dispenser comprising a base, a cover member frictionally engaged thereon and apertured for guiding twine therethrough, an extension on said base and a clamping device having an arm thereon, said extension movably secured to said arm said clamping device consisting of a circular body member, a Vshaped clamping member disposed therein longitudinally, a threaded shaft loosely engaged on said V-shaped clamping member and engaged in a threaded opening in said circular body member.
2. A butcher''s twine dispenser comprising a circular base having an upstanding vertically disposed flange thereabout, a circular conical cover member having a vertically disposed flange on its lower end frictionally engaged within said vertically disposed flange of said base and apertured for guiding twine therethrough, a horizontally disposed, flat apertured sideward extension on said base and a clamping device having a horizontally disposed flat apertured arm thereon, a pivot pin joining said extension and arm, said clamping device consisting of a body member defining a vertically disposed passage and a clamping member movably disposed therein and means for moving the same so as to restrict the area of the vertical passageway.
