Abstract

An improved disposable paper palette for painting, with the individual sheets of the palette mounted together to form a book. Each sheet of the palette is imprinted with marked sections, each such section being labeled with the name of a color and with the colors of each of several groups linked together. The cool colors, warm colors, and earth colors are thus separately identified. The inside of the front cover of the book is marked with a color wheel consisting of a circle formed by individual marked sections lying along the circumference of said circle with each said section being labeled by the name of a color that is identified with the adjacent colors, indicating the primary colors, yellow, red and blue and the secondary colors that are formed by mixing combinations of the primary colors to form intermediate colors.

DISPOSABLE PALE'ITE SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to an improved disposable paper palette and particularly a palette in the form of a bookof disposable palette sheets with each sheet being marked with identifiable sections on which to place paint of the color corresponding to the markings of that section.
The advantage of this invention is that the individual marked sections, identified with the color of the paint placed on the palette, is also identified with the type of color such as cool color, warm color, or earth color for the instruction of the painter.
The inside face of the front cover of the palette, which when open lies flat adjacent to the top sheet of the palette book, is marked with reference information with regard to the primary colors and the secondary colors in the form of a color wheel, with each color identified by a section on the circumference of said wheel and with the primary colors yellow, red and blue identified and the secondary colors formed by mixing each pair of the primary colors located between the primary colors.
The palette book and each sheet of the palette book is in the general shape of a painters palette with a through holev and a rounded concave edge adjacent to said through hole for ease of grasping bythe artists hand. The remainder of the palette sheet may be of general rectangular proportions, or may be such irregular shape as is associated with painters palettes. The markings for the placement of the colors on the palette are along the borders of the palette to permit the use of the center of the palette for mixing the combination of paints placed in theidentified sections.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The objects and features of the invention may be un derstood with reference to the following detailed description of anillustrative embodiment of the invention, taken together with the accompanying drawings in which:
FIG. I is a perspective view of the palette book in the opened position;
. FIG. 2 is a plan view of the inside face of the front cover of the palette book and a top sheet in the palette section of the book; and
FIG. 3 is a plan view of the front face of the cover of the palette book.
7 DESCRIPTION OETI-IE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Turning now descriptively to the drawings, in which similar reference characters denote similar elements throughout the several views, FIGS. 1-3 illustrate palette book 10 opened to display the inside face 11 of the front cover 12 and a top sheet 13 of the palette section of the book. The book 10 is formed of a number of palette sheets 13 bound together so that each sheet l3 may be separately torn off. The book, comprising the i the open position as shown in FIG. I, may be grasped by the thumb and hand in the conventional manner in which an artist holds a palette.
As shown in FIG. 2 the face of each palette sheet 13 is marked with circular sections 16 along the perimeter of the sheet for the location of the paints that the artist uses. Each circular section 16 is labeled with the color of the paint that is to be located on that section 16. Sections of similar types of colors are linked together and marked with marking 17 indicating whether they are cool colors, warm colors, or earth colors. The inside face 11 of the front cover 12 contains instructional markings 21 with regard to-the mixing of paints. A 'color wheel is formed of a series of circular sections 22 along the circumference of the color wheel, with each primary color identified by being linked together by lines 24 representing the sides of a triangle, and with the secondary color sections 22 located between the primary colors which form the particular secondary colors. The frontface of the front cover 11 of the book may be marked with identification markings 25 to indicate the nature of the book and of the palette sheets enclosed. The use of this disposable paper palette imprinted with the information as to the mixing of colors, with such markings located adjacent to the sections where the paint colors are initially deposited on the palette by the artist, assists the artist to mix the paints of those colors on the remainder of the palette sheet 13 in an informed manner.
Since obvious changes may be made in the specific embodiment of the invention described herein, such modifications being within the spirit and scope of the invention claimed, it is indicated that all matter contained herein is intended as illustrative and not as limiting in scope. Y
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
l. A book of disposable palette sheets, each shaped in the form of a painters palette having a through thumb hole, and a concave recess positioned along the adjacent edge near the thumb hold for ease in grasping the palette, with each-sheet of the book fastened so as to be readily individually detached, and with each sheet marked into individual sections which are each labeled with the name of a color of the pigment'that isto be placed in that section, and with each group of markings of similar colors linked together and identified as to their similarity, with v the labeled sections for placement of the cool colors such as cobalt blue, ultramarine blue, viridian and chrome oxide green located adjacent to each other and labeled cool colors, with the labeled sections for the placement of the warm colors such as cadmium yellow light, cadmium yellow medium, cadmium red light and alizarine crimson placed together and labeled warm colors, and
' the sections for locating earth colors, such as yellow okra, indian red, burnt umber, raw umber and colors, together with binder of the book, with the inside face of the cover sheet marked with information to indicate the mixing of the primary colors and to indicate the secondary colors which are formed by mixing each pair of primary colors, with individual sections, each labeled with the name of a color, located on the circumference of the circle, with the sections marked with the name of the secondary colors formed, by combining each pair of the primary colors shown, located on the circle between that pair of sections labeled with the names of those particular primary colors.
