BACKGROUND The present invention relates generally to devices for marketing merchandise to consumers and more particularly to a device for marketing retail products on display in a display window of a retail sales establishment.
With the increased use of retail establishments beyond the once normal 9:00 am. to :00 or 6300 pm. business hours, the operating cost of many retail establishments has increased in that more personnel need be used to provide customer services or existing personnel need be paid increased wages. The present invention seeks to provide consumer access to products displayed in the window of the retail establishment'at any time throughout the day or night and allow a consumer to purchase any of such products by completing an order form, all without the necessity of the presence of sales personnel.
SUMMARY Briefly, the present invention provides for such marketing and sale of retail products by providing, in the preferred embodiment, a frame capable of mounting in an aperture in the display window of the retail sales establishment and an enclosure mounted on the frame in a manner to move from a closed position generally inside of the display window to an open position generally outside the display window'. The enclosure support'sa sales recording mechanism which allows the consumer to record the product desired, the price, and his identification to allow the retail establishment to ship and deliver the goods to the correct consumer and later bill the consumer. The enclosure further includes sides and a back to prevent unauthorized access to the goods themselves as displayedin the display window. DESCRIPTION In FIG. 1 the marketing device of the present invention, generally designated 10, is shown as mounted in a display window 12 ofaretail establishment. Various products are shown in the display area behind display window 12, one of which products is a camera 14 having a card 16 before it including, for example, the manufacturer of the product, a product code or identification number, the price, and other descriptive information on the product. The remaining products, which are not numbered, also have associated cards with information similar to that upon card 16. The information upon the cards is used with the marketing device of the present invention. in a manner hereafter explained.
26,28 and 30 of rectangular portion 20 exteriorally of display window 12 arranged to overlap the display window around and about aperture 22 in display window 12 for preventing movement of frame 18 toward the inside of display window 12. Frame 18 further includes a lip 34 attached to rectangular portion 20 interiorally of display window 12 and substantially overlying and horizontally spaced from the outside lip 32 for preventing movement of frame 18 towards the outside of display window 12. As shown, flat-head screws 36 join inside lip 34 to rectangular portion 20. Bolts 38 are threaded through inside lip 34 for reducing the spacing between the inside lip '34 and the outside lip 32 to thus compress a portion of display window 12 between the inside lip 34 and the outside lip 32 for supporting the marketing device 10 upon the display window 12. In particular, a gasketing material 40 is shown in position between display window 12 and outside lip '32. Gasket- 3 ing material 40 extends through aperture 22 in display window 40 to a position inside of display window 40. A pressure-bar 42 is then positioned between the ends of bolts 38 and gasketing material 40 to apply pressure to the gasketing material 40 and window 12 with respect to outside lip 32. In this manner, portions of window 12 are. compressed between pressure spreading bar 42,.and thus inside lip 34, and outside lip 32 to retain frame 18, and thus marketing device firmly affixed to display window 12 for use.
A mechanism, generally designated 44, is provided within an enclosure, generally designated 46, of marketing device 10. Enclosure 46 includes a flat metal shelf 48 supporting marking device 44. Shelf 48 is attached between two metal pie- shaped sides 50 and 52 connected between a front wall 54 of enclosure 46 and a back wall 56 of enclosure 46. r Front wall 54 and back wall 56 are generally'of flat metal stock and are formedfrom a single piece of metal bent in a manner that front wall 54- and back wall 56 are mutually perpendicular. Back wall 54 is of a dimension exceeding the dimensions defined by the flat pieces 24, 26, 28, and 30 forming rectangular portion 20 of frame 18 and thus exceeding the dimensions of aperture 22 in the display window for preventing the removal of the enclosure 46 from. frame 18 as will be further explained hereinafter.
In particular, back wall 54 includes a stop portion 58 of a' dimension exceeding aperture 22 of window 12 and the aperture defined within frame 18 to thus overlie inside lip 34. Similarly, front wall 54 includes a stop portion 60 with gasketing materials 62 affixed to the inside thereof for providing a cushioned stop between stop portion 60 and outside lip 32.
A hinge 63 is positioned parallel to piece 26 of rectangular portion 20 of frame 18-, and hinge 63 has one portion connected to bottom 26 and the other portion connected to back wall 56 to allow a purchaser to grasp a handle 65 affixed to front wall 56 on the outside thereof and pivot enclosure 46 upon hinge 63 from a closed position where substantially all of enclosure 46 including shelf 48 are substantially inside of frame 18 and thus display window 12 to an open position with shelf 48 and the remainder of enclosure 46 at least partially outside of frame 18 and thus window 12 to expose the sale-recording mechanism 44 and the remainder of enclosure 46 to a purchaser positioned outside of the display window. As shown, front wall 54 and shelf 48 are parallel and spaced to form two uncompleted order-form compartments 64 and 66 each having an open end adjacent stop 60 of front wall 54 to allow the consumer ready access to any order forms 70 in compartments 64 and 66 with the enclosure 46 in the'open position. In particular, the space between shelf 48 and front wall 54 is divided into the two compartments 64 and.6 6 by a metal wall 68.
A completed order form compartment, generally designated 72, is arranged adjacent the enclosure upon back wall 56 of the enclosure 46. Compartment 72 includes a slot 74 defined within the back wall 56 to allow the deposit of order forms completed by the purchaser in a manner hereinafter explained, but by its dimension preventing the withdrawal of the completed order forms. Compartment 72 further includes a door 76 pivoted on back wall 56 by a hinge 78 arranged parallel to hinge 63 upon back wall 56 arranged at the bottom thereof which isopened by a knob 80 releasing a pressure catch 82.
'By the positioning of compartment 72 on the inside of back wall 56 with access provided by door 76 at the bottom of compartment 72, only authorized access may be had to the completed order forms. That is, the order forms are inaccessible to purchasers once they have been'deposited, and only store personnel having access to the inside of the retail establishment and marketing device can withdraw the completed order forms from compartment 72. v i
A card of instructions 84, which will be elaborated upon hereinafter, is then affixed to the outside of back wall 56 as best seen in FIG. 2. The instructions upon card 84 indicate to the consumer how the marketing device 10 of the present invention is to be used.
FIG. 4 shows an alternate embodiment of marketing device 10 of the present invention with the identical parts but further including a hinged cover generally designated 86. Cover 86 includes a curved top 88 with top 88 including top portion 60 formerly an integral part of front wall 54.
FIG. 5 shows a further alternative embodiment of the marketing device 10 of the present invention with front wall 54 pivoted upon top piece 24 of rectangular portion 20 instead of bottom piece 26.
The alternate embodiment of FIG. 5 further includes a shelf similar to shelf 48 of FIGS. 1-4 to support sale-recording mechanism 44. A further shelf 102 -is spaced from shelf 100 by side walls 104 and 106 to again form uncompleted order form compartments 64 and 66. Shelf 102 has formed at the right edge thereof a rack member 108 which, in cooperation with the pinion member 110 formed upon inverted pie-shaped side 52 causes the connected shelves 100 and 102 to be drawn forward from inside of display window 12 to the,

It will now be appreciated that aside from pivoting from right to left rather than downwardly the marketing device 10 of FIG. 6 is similar to that of FIG. 1 with the exception of the addition of bottom shelf 112 immediately below supporting shelf 48.
The alternate embodiment of marketing device as shown in FIG. 7 also generally operates in the same OPERATION Briefly, theoperation of the marketing device 10 of the present invention is as follows: various retail prodcations of the particular time exposed at the top of marketing device 44 such as through window 130 best seen ucts areon display in a display window of a retail estab- V lishment to consumers viewing such products through the display window, such as these shown in FIG. 1. A
consumer views the products, decides to purchase one of the products, selects the particular product desired,
and grasps handle 65 of device 10 of the present invention to bring the enclosure 46 to an open position and thus expose sale-recording mechanism 34 for use.
4 The consumer also exposes card 84 including instructions for use of the marketing device 10 of the present invention, which may be as follows:
1. Select the goods youwish to purchase.
2. Note the product code on the card beside the product you have selected, such as XXX-XX-XX for the camera on display on the floor immediately beneath this card.
3. Place any charge card on the chargedevice on the shelf just below this card. Place the charge-card as indicated on the device itself.
' 4. Withdraw an order form from the order form shelf below the charge device and write the name and product code for the product you have selected in the appropriate place on the order form.
5. Place the order form with the product name and product code written inon top of the charge card in the charge-device with the printed side downward as indicated on the charge-device.
6. Slide the charge-device lever leftward and then rightward to its original position. a
7. Remove the now completed order form and your charge card from the charge-device.
8. Retail the blue carbon of the order form and your charge card.
9. Drop the original whitecopy of the order form in the slot behind the charge-device immediately to the right of these instructions.
10. The goods you have selected and ordered in this fashion will be delivered to the address on the charge card within 48 hours.
- Once the consumer has read the instructions on card 84 and followed these instructions, the retail establishment is in a position to read the completed order form deposited within compartment 72, deliver the particular goods ordered to the consumer, and subsequently bill the consumer for the goods he has ordered.
It is to' be noticed that use of the marketing device 10 of the present inventionis without the necessity of pres I ence of sales personnel other than to empty the completed order form compartment at selected intervals. Also, the marketing device of the present invention may be used both during the normal business hours of hours.
Further, marketing promotional techniques may be the retail establishment and after the normalbusiness associated with the marketing device of the present invention such as by incorporating a timing device below the top surface of marketing device 44 with metal indiin FIG. 6. In this manner the time of purchase or products may be automatically recorded on a completed order form. A sale may then be arranged such that between particular hours the prices can fluctuate to draw consumers to the retail establishment at hours during which no sales would be made. For example, the sale .price can be reduced $1 for every hour after midnight to a maximum of a fixed amount.
Now that the basic teachings of the present invention have been explained, many extensions and variations I I will be obvious to one having ordinary skill in the art.
For example, while the embodiment of FIG. 6 shows a hinge arranged at the left side of frame 18, as would be seen when viewing FIG. 6 in a manner to read to enumeration, it will be realized that hinging may as well be on the right side.
Thus, since the invention disclosed herein may be embodied in other specific forms without departing from the spirit or general characteristics thereof, some of which forms have been indicated, the embodiments described herein are to be considered in all respects'illustrative and not restrictive. The scope of the invention is indicated by the appended claims, rather than by the foregoing description, and all changes which come within the meaning and range of equivalency of the claims are intended to be embraced therein.
What is claimed is:
l. A device for marketing retail products on display in a display window of a retail sales establishment to consumersviewing such products through the display window without the necessity of the presence of sales personnel, both during the normal business hours of such retail establishment and after the normal business hours of such retail establishment, comprising in combination: a frame member having an aperture therethrough and arrangedfor mounting the marketing device in an aperture in the display window of the retail establishment, including: a rectangular portion having an aperture therethrough and arranged to extend through the aperture in the display window; an outside lip member attached to the rectangular portion exteriorly of the display window and arranged to overlap the display window around and about the display window aperture for preventing movement of the frame member toward the inside of the display window; an inside lip member attached to the rectangular portion interiorly of the display window substantially overlying and horizontally spaced from the outside lip member for preventing movement of the frame member toward the outside of the display window; and means mounted on the inside lip member for reducing the spacing between the inside lip member and the outside lip member to thus compress portions of the display window between the inside lip member and the outside lip member for supporting the marketing device upon such display window; a mechanism for recording the sale of the retail products to the consumerv for later shipment and billing by the retail establishment and for returning a receipt of the sale to the consumer; a movable enclosure, including: a substantially flat sale-recording mechanism supporting surface; means for interconnecting the supporting surfaceand the frame member to allow the supporting surface to move from a closed position with the supporting surface substantially inside of the frame member to an open position with the supporting s'urfaceat least partially outside of the frame member to expose the sale-recording mechanism and the remainder of the enclosure to a purchaser positioned outside of the display window; an uncompleted order form compartment arranged within the enclosure, the compartment havingv an open end for providing the consumer ready access to any order forms in the compartment with the enclosure in the open position; a back wallattached to the supporting surface adjacent an edge of the supporting surface adjacent the interconnecting means and extending at substantially right angles to the supporting surface to substantially fill the aperture within the frame member in the open position of the enclosure, the dimensions of the backwall exceeding the dimensions of the aperture in the frame member and the display window for preventing the removal of the marketing device fromthe frame member; a completed order form compartment arranged adjacent the enclosure including an opening defined within the compartment allowing deposit of order forms completed by the purchaser, but preventing the withdrawal of completed order forms, and including a selectively removable portion to allow authorized access to the completed order forms.
2. The marketing device of claim 1, wherein the interconnecting means comprises hinge means for interconnecting the enclosure and the frame member to allow the supporting surface to pivot between the closed and the open positions.
3. The marketing device of claim 2, wherein the completed order form compartment is arranged on the inside of the back wall, with at least a portion of the back wall forming one side of the completed order form compartment and'with the opening defined within the completed order form compartment comprising a slot defined in the portion of the back wall forming the one sideof the completed order form compartment.
4. The marketing device of claim 3, wherein the space reducing means of the frame member comprises pressure spreading means and threaded means mounted on the inside lip member to reduce the spacing by urging the pressure spreading means away from the inside lip member and towards the outside lip member.
5. The marketing device of claim 4, wherein the hinge means is arranged parallel to the plane of the display window for pivoting the supporting surface between a position generally parallel to the plane of the display window in the closed position of the enclosure to a position generally perpendicular to the plane of the display window in the open position of the enclosure.
6. The marketing de-vice of claim 5, including two parallel pie-shaped sides, each side connected between the supporting surface and the back wall to aid in pre venting a prospective purchaser from having access toany retail products on the inside of the display window.
7. The marketing device of ,claim 6, including a curved top, and a hinge, the top hinge interconnecting back wall of the enclosure fully fillsthe aperture de fined within the frame member in the open position of the enclosure to thus prevent any access to the inside of the display window.
8. The marketing device of claim 2, wherein the hinge means is arranged parallel to the plane of the display window for pivoting the supporting surface between a position generally parallel to the plane of the display window in the closed position of the enclosure to a position generally perpendicular to the plane of the display window in the openposition of the enclosure.
9. The marketing device of claim 8, including two parallel pie-shaped sides, each side connected between the supporting surface and the back wall to aid in preventing a prospective purchaser from having access to any retail products on the inside of the display window.
10. The marketing device of claim 1, including a curved top, and a hinge, the top'hinge interconnecting the top and the enclosure such that the top hinge is exposed outside of the frame means only upon the withdrawal of the enclosure to the full open position to pre vent access to the enclosure until the enclosure is in a fully open position to further aid in preventing access to the retail products on the inside of the display window by preventing access to the enclosure until the back wall of the enclosure fully fills the aperture defined within the frame member in the open position of the enclosure to thus prevent any access to the inside of the display'window.
11. The marketing device of claim 1, wherein the completed order form compartment is arranged on the inside of the back wall, with atleast a portion of the back wall forming one side of the completed order form compartment and with the opening defined within the completed order form compartment comprising a slot defined in the portion of the back wall forming the one side of completed order form compartment.
12. A device for marketing retail products on display in a display area of a retail sales establishment to consumers viewing such products, without the necessity of the presence of sales'personnel, both during the normal business hours of such retail establishment and after the normal business hours of such retail establishment, comprising in combination: a frame member having an aperture therethrough and constructed and arranged for mounting in an aperture formed in a surface adjacent the display area of the retail establishment; means for securing the frame member to the surface and about the aperture formed therein; a mechanism for recording the sale of the retail products to the consumer for later shipment and billing by the retail establishment and for returning a receipt of the sale to the consumer; a movable enclosure, including: means for mounting the sale-recording mechanism inside the enclosure; a front wall; means for interconnecting the front wall and the frame member to allow the front wall to move from a closed position with the front wall substantially parallel to the plane of the surface to an open position with the front wall at least partially outside of the plane of the surface to expose the sale-recording mechanism and the remainder of the enclosure to a purchaser; an uncompleted order form compartment arranged within the enclosure, the compartment having an open end for providing the consumer ready access to any order forms in the compartment with the enclosure in the open position; a back wall of a size to substantially fill the aperture within the frame member in the open position .of the enclosure; and means for preventing withdrawal of the enclosure from the frame member; and a' completed order form compartment arranged adjacent the enclosure including an opening defined within the compartment allowing deposit of order forms completed by the purchaser, but preventing the withdrawal of completed order forms, and including a selectively removable portion to allow authorized access to the completed-order forms.
13. The apparatus of claim 12 wherein the mounting means for the sale-recording mechanism includes a supporting surface in a spaced, parallel relation to the front wall.
14. The apparatus of claim 13 wherein at least one of the order form compartments is formed between the front wall and the supporting surface.
15. The apparatus of claim 12 wherein the completed order form compartment is formed in the back wall.

The apparatus of claim 12 wherein means for preventing withdrawal of the enclosure from the frame member includes additional material extending along and beyond the back wall so that the dimensions of the back wall exceed the dimensions of the aperture in the frame member to thereby prevent the back wall from being withdrawn from the frame member when the front wall is in the open position.
17. The apparatus of claim 12 wherein the frame securing means includes an outside lip member and an inside lip member found on the frame member, and means mounted on one of the lip members for reducing the spacing between the inside lip member and outside lip member for securing the frame member to the surface and about the aperture formed therein.
18. The apparatus of claim 12 wherein the interconnecting means comprises hinge means for interconnecting the enclosure and the frame member to allow the front wall to pivot between the closed and open position.
' 19. The apparatus of claim 12 wherein the back wall .is attached to the front wall adjacent an edge of the front wall at substantially right angles to the front wall.
20. A device for marketing retail products on display in a display area of a retail sales establishment to consumers viewing such products without the necessity of the presence of sales personnel, both during normal business hours of such retail establishment and after the normal business hours of such retail establishment,
comprising in combination: a housing forming a chamber and including a front wall and a back wall;'means for movably mounting the front wall to the housing to allow selective movement of the front wall to expose the interior of thehousing; means for mounting the housing to a support surface; a sale-recording mechanism; means for mounting the sale-recording mechanism within the housing such that when the interior of the housing is exposed the sale-recording mechanism is accessible from outside of the housing; an uncompleted order form compartment mounted on the housing and accessible at least when the interior of the housing is exposed; a completed order form compartment mounted on the housing and having an opening formed therein for deposit of completed order forms and including a selectively removable portion to allow only authorized access to the completed order forms.
21. The device of claim 20 wherein the means for mounting the housing to a support surface includes a frame about the device and mountable in an aperture formed in the support surface such that the front wall is substantially in the plane of the support surface.

Claims (23)
1. A device for marketing retail products on display in a display window of a retail sales establishment to consumers viewing such products through the display window without the necessity of the presence of sales personnel, both during the normal business hours of such retail establishment and after the normal business hours of such retail establishment, comprising in combination: a frame member having an aperture therethrough and arranged for mounting the marketing device in an aperture in the display window of the retail establishment, including: a rectangular portion having an aPerture therethrough and arranged to extend through the aperture in the display window; an outside lip member attached to the rectangular portion exteriorly of the display window and arranged to overlap the display window around and about the display window aperture for preventing movement of the frame member toward the inside of the display window; an inside lip member attached to the rectangular portion interiorly of the display window substantially overlying and horizontally spaced from the outside lip member for preventing movement of the frame member toward the outside of the display window; and means mounted on the inside lip member for reducing the spacing between the inside lip member and the outside lip member to thus compress portions of the display window between the inside lip member and the outside lip member for supporting the marketing device upon such display window; a mechanism for recording the sale of the retail products to the consumer for later shipment and billing by the retail establishment and for returning a receipt of the sale to the consumer; a movable enclosure, including: a substantially flat sale-recording mechanism supporting surface; means for interconnecting the supporting surface and the frame member to allow the supporting surface to move from a closed position with the supporting surface substantially inside of the frame member to an open position with the supporting surface at least partially outside of the frame member to expose the salerecording mechanism and the remainder of the enclosure to a purchaser positioned outside of the display window; an uncompleted order form compartment arranged within the enclosure, the compartment having an open end for providing the consumer ready access to any order forms in the compartment with the enclosure in the open position; a back wall attached to the supporting surface adjacent an edge of the supporting surface adjacent the interconnecting means and extending at substantially right angles to the supporting surface to substantially fill the aperture within the frame member in the open position of the enclosure, the dimensions of the back wall exceeding the dimensions of the aperture in the frame member and the display window for preventing the removal of the marketing device from the frame member; a completed order form compartment arranged adjacent the enclosure including an opening defined within the compartment allowing deposit of order forms completed by the purchaser, but preventing the withdrawal of completed order forms, and including a selectively removable portion to allow authorized access to the completed order forms.
2. The marketing device of claim 1, wherein the interconnecting means comprises hinge means for interconnecting the enclosure and the frame member to allow the supporting surface to pivot between the closed and the open positions.
3. The marketing device of claim 2, wherein the completed order form compartment is arranged on the inside of the back wall, with at least a portion of the back wall forming one side of the completed order form compartment and with the opening defined within the completed order form compartment comprising a slot defined in the portion of the back wall forming the one side of the completed order form compartment.
4. The marketing device of claim 3, wherein the space reducing means of the frame member comprises pressure spreading means and threaded means mounted on the inside lip member to reduce the spacing by urging the pressure spreading means away from the inside lip member and towards the outside lip member.
5. The marketing device of claim 4, wherein the hinge means is arranged parallel to the plane of the display window for pivoting the supporting surface between a position generally parallel to the plane of the display window in the closed position of the enclosure to a position generally perpendicular to the plane of the display window in the open position of the enclosure.
6. The marketing device of claim 5, including two parallEl pie-shaped sides, each side connected between the supporting surface and the back wall to aid in preventing a prospective purchaser from having access to any retail products on the inside of the display window.
7. The marketing device of claim 6, including a curved top, and a hinge, the top hinge interconnecting the top and the enclosure such that the top hinge is exposed outside of the frame means only upon the withdrawal of the enclosure to the full open position to prevent access to the enclosure until the enclosure is in a fully open position to further aid in preventing access to the retail products on the inside of the display window by preventing access to the enclosure until the back wall of the enclosure fully fills the aperture defined within the frame member in the open position of the enclosure to thus prevent any access to the inside of the display window.
8. The marketing device of claim 2, wherein the hinge means is arranged parallel to the plane of the display window for pivoting the supporting surface between a position generally parallel to the plane of the display window in the closed position of the enclosure to a position generally perpendicular to the plane of the display window in the open position of the enclosure.
9. The marketing device of claim 8, including two parallel pie-shaped sides, each side connected between the supporting surface and the back wall to aid in preventing a prospective purchaser from having access to any retail products on the inside of the display window.
10. The marketing device of claim 1, including a curved top, and a hinge, the top hinge interconnecting the top and the enclosure such that the top hinge is exposed outside of the frame means only upon the withdrawal of the enclosure to the full open position to prevent access to the enclosure until the enclosure is in a fully open position to further aid in preventing access to the retail products on the inside of the display window by preventing access to the enclosure until the back wall of the enclosure fully fills the aperture defined within the frame member in the open position of the enclosure to thus prevent any access to the inside of the display window.
11. The marketing device of claim 1, wherein the completed order form compartment is arranged on the inside of the back wall, with at least a portion of the back wall forming one side of the completed order form compartment and with the opening defined within the completed order form compartment comprising a slot defined in the portion of the back wall forming the one side of completed order form compartment.
12. A device for marketing retail products on display in a display area of a retail sales establishment to consumers viewing such products, without the necessity of the presence of sales personnel, both during the normal business hours of such retail establishment and after the normal business hours of such retail establishment, comprising in combination: a frame member having an aperture therethrough and constructed and arranged for mounting in an aperture formed in a surface adjacent the display area of the retail establishment; means for securing the frame member to the surface and about the aperture formed therein; a mechanism for recording the sale of the retail products to the consumer for later shipment and billing by the retail establishment and for returning a receipt of the sale to the consumer; a movable enclosure, including: means for mounting the sale-recording mechanism inside the enclosure; a front wall; means for interconnecting the front wall and the frame member to allow the front wall to move from a closed position with the front wall substantially parallel to the plane of the surface to an open position with the front wall at least partially outside of the plane of the surface to expose the sale-recording mechanism and the remainder of the enclosure to a purchaser; an uncompleted order form compartment arranged within the enclosure, the compartment having an open end for Providing the consumer ready access to any order forms in the compartment with the enclosure in the open position; a back wall of a size to substantially fill the aperture within the frame member in the open position of the enclosure; and means for preventing withdrawal of the enclosure from the frame member; and a completed order form compartment arranged adjacent the enclosure including an opening defined within the compartment allowing deposit of order forms completed by the purchaser, but preventing the withdrawal of completed order forms, and including a selectively removable portion to allow authorized access to the completed order forms.
13. The apparatus of claim 12 wherein the mounting means for the sale-recording mechanism includes a supporting surface in a spaced, parallel relation to the front wall.
14. The apparatus of claim 13 wherein at least one of the order form compartments is formed between the front wall and the supporting surface.
15. The apparatus of claim 12 wherein the completed order form compartment is formed in the back wall.
16. The apparatus of claim 12 wherein means for preventing withdrawal of the enclosure from the frame member includes additional material extending along and beyond the back wall so that the dimensions of the back wall exceed the dimensions of the aperture in the frame member to thereby prevent the back wall from being withdrawn from the frame member when the front wall is in the open position.
17. The apparatus of claim 12 wherein the frame securing means includes an outside lip member and an inside lip member found on the frame member, and means mounted on one of the lip members for reducing the spacing between the inside lip member and outside lip member for securing the frame member to the surface and about the aperture formed therein.
18. The apparatus of claim 12 wherein the interconnecting means comprises hinge means for interconnecting the enclosure and the frame member to allow the front wall to pivot between the closed and open position.
19. The apparatus of claim 12 wherein the back wall is attached to the front wall adjacent an edge of the front wall at substantially right angles to the front wall.
20. A device for marketing retail products on display in a display area of a retail sales establishment to consumers viewing such products without the necessity of the presence of sales personnel, both during normal business hours of such retail establishment and after the normal business hours of such retail establishment, comprising in combination: a housing forming a chamber and including a front wall and a back wall; means for movably mounting the front wall to the housing to allow selective movement of the front wall to expose the interior of the housing; means for mounting the housing to a support surface; a sale-recording mechanism; means for mounting the sale-recording mechanism within the housing such that when the interior of the housing is exposed the sale-recording mechanism is accessible from outside of the housing; an uncompleted order form compartment mounted on the housing and accessible at least when the interior of the housing is exposed; a completed order form compartment mounted on the housing and having an opening formed therein for deposit of completed order forms and including a selectively removable portion to allow only authorized access to the completed order forms.
21. The device of claim 20 wherein the means for mounting the housing to a support surface includes a frame about the device and mountable in an aperture formed in the support surface such that the front wall is substantially in the plane of the support surface.
22. The device of claim 21 wherein the means for mounting the front wall is a hinge mounted along one edge of the front wall.
23. The device of claim 20 wherein the means for mounting the front wall is a hinge mounted along one edge of the front wall.
