Be it known that l, FRANCIS M. BARBER,

-of \Vashington, in the District of Columbia,

have invented a new and useful Improvement in Coin-Spinners, which improvementis fully set forth in the following specification.

The object of this invention is to produce a device for spinning a coin or other diskshaped object, as is commonly done by hand for sport or amusement; and it consists, generally, in a holder for supporting the coin and a striker discharging the latter from the holder and imparting to it a rotatory or spinning motion.

The invention may be embodied in many difierent forms and carried out in a variety of ways. The holder may consist of spring fingers or clamps, between which the coin is held with sufficient firmness to prevent it falling out until struck by the striker. The latter may be a spring adapted to be drawn back, and when released to strike a quick blow against the coin near its edge; or a rod or other intermediary may be employed to transmit the impulse of the spring (which may be a helical,

d flat, or other form of spring) to the coin.

In the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification, is illustrated one way in which the invention may be carried into effect, Figure I being a perspective View, and Fig. II a side elevation.

The coin-spinner shown consists of a base or support, A, which in this case is given the form or outline of a pistol. The coin-holder, as shown, consists of two fingers, a, which may be of metal or other material having sui'iicient springiness to hold the coin 1) between them with light pressure. The striker in this i11- stance is a rod or pin, 0, actuated by a spring, cl, the forward end of the rod or pin 0 being the coin 1) near its edge midway between the points where it is clasped by said holder.

The actuating spring d is bent to represent a trigger, and its end projects beyond the sup port A in convenient position to be retracted by the forefinger. Vhen the spring is released, its impulse is transmitted through the striker c to the coin, which is discharged from the holder and given a rapid spinning motion.

It will of course be understood that the particular form of the device is nota material part of the invention, which could obviously be embodied in a variety of forms, and that the particular means shown for holding the coin and for setting it in motion could be varied without departing from the spirit of the invention.

I claim as my invention 1. A coin-spinner comprising a holder and a striker for discharging the coin from the holder and giving it a spinning motion, substantially as described.

2. A coinspinner comprising, in combination, a holder and a spring-actuated striker adapted to strike the coin near its edge While in said holder, substantially as described.

3. The combination of the spring holdingfingers for clasping a coin at opposite points on its periphery and a spring-actuated striker for striking the coin near its edge and midway between the holdingfingers, substantially as described.
