Often this may be remedied by air moving means used in conjunction with the heating or cooling elements. This usually takes the form of a motor driven fan, which is where small children may be endangered and a draught created rather than circulation.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION A means for circulating air in a room or enclosure, having air intake means at the base and telescoping, adjustable sections, and having air treating means mounted in said telescoping sections and air difusing means at the top, and having means for maintaining the device in a vertical position in a room while in use.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The FIGURE is a side elevational, cross sectional view.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT In the drawings, the numeral 1 designates a tubular member into which the tubular member 2 telescopes. The upper end of the tubular section 2 is outwardly flared, and yieldably mounted therein is the tension stabilizer 3, which may be adjustable through the threaded shaft mounted in an internally threaded retainer 15 on the spider 20. A coil spring 16, seated on the retainer 17, maintains the stabilizer 3 against the ceiling 18. The base member mounted on the lower end of the tubular section 1, has a plurality of air intake passageways ll, 11 and seats on the floor 12 of the room. Adjusting screws 14, 14 mounted in the top of the section I, bear against the side wall of the section 2, so that the sections 1, 2 may be adjusted to the desired length, so that the stabilizer 3 will be yieldably pressed against the ceiling 18.
A heating element 6 may be mounted in one of the tubular sections, as 2, and controlled by the switch and thermostat 13. A filter 8 may be mounted in the tubular sections, as in the bottom of the section 2, the bottom margin of the section 2 being inwardly turned to receive the filter. A fan, as 7, controlled by the switch 4, maintains circulation of air through the sections 1, 2. If desired, a humidifier l0 and a deodorizer 9 may be mounted in the section 1, to treat air being drawn therethrough.
Where a room is provided with a heater, such as an ordinary fuel burning stove, the heat will rise to the ceiling, and cool air will remain in the room at floor level. The tubular sections may be adjusted to fit the room, with the stabilizer under tension when the sections are placed in upright position. The stabilizer is upwardly and outwardly flared and. the sections 1, 2 are adjusted so that when the unit is in position, the stabilizer will bear against the ceiling 18, but will leave a substantial space between the stabilizer and the top of the unit 1. When the fan 7 is turned on, cool air will be drawn from the area near the floor, will pass through the filter 8, after being moistened by the humidifier l0 and being deodorized by the deodorizer 9, and, if desired, heated by the heating element 6, and out through the outwardly flared top of the section 2, difused by the conical shape of the stabilizer 3, and will continue this process, acquiring and maintaining an even temperature throughout the room.
What I claim is:
1. In an air circulating device, a pair of tubular, telescoping members, adjustable longitudinally, air intake passageways in the lower end of said sections and air outlet passageways at the top of said members, a stabilizer yieldably mounted in the upper end of said sections and means within said sections for moving air therethrough.
2. The device defined in claim 1 wherein said sections are provided with a diametrically enlarged base member, through which said air inlet passageways extend.
3. The device defined in claim 1 wherein a heating element is mounted in one of said sections.
4. The device defined in claim 1 wherein a filter is mounted in said members.
5. The device defined in claim 1 wherein a deodorizer is mounted in one of said members.
6. The device defined in claim 1 wherein locking means are mounted in one member movable against the other member to lock the members in the desired position.
